Hi All,

Just looked at a video on Youtube of a C5 in India. I noticed that the coverplate on side of UCE motor has got Twin Spark EFI casted in. And of course it's got a kick start one thing they all should have. Is there any benefit by having Twinspark??  :o Youtube link below.

Twin plugs can help give improved flame front characteristics and more complete fuel burn in high compression high RPM hemi head race engines runing on exotic fuels and in stock engines might improve the combustion of questionable quality gasoline in some certain circumstances but otherwise no REal measurable gains for the REst of the motoring world to make it worth the expense unless you like it.

To say it in fewer words,,,,

None what so ever.

Questionable Gasoline, that's maybe why the Twin Spark is in India on the C5. Our petrol here In Australia is refined, 3 types of Un-leaded available, not including Ethonal mix.

BMW had made some bikes with twin spark - BMW R1150 - a few years ago.  Here is what it says about the reason of using a twin spark.

"The standard R1150GS model was produced from 1999 to 2004, when it was replaced by the more powerful and lighter R1200GS. The Adventure, which was produced from 2001 to 2005, was replaced by the R1200GS Adventure in 2006.

In late 2002, the optional ABS system was replaced with an electrically servo-assisted combined braking system. In addition the engines were equipped with twin spark plugs on each cylinder to improve emissions and improve a persistent surging problem that affected many BMW boxer models."

Oh yeah, the infamous BMW surging problem, which they denied for YEARS!   ;)

Singh, interesting.  I hadn't even thought of the emissions angle.  Even though the performance increase may be negligible, more burn = less unburned fuel out the tail pipe and that helps as standards get tighter all the time.

Some of the larger 2 valve Ducati's have 2 pluge per cylinder as well.

It may also help with starting. IIRC even a fireball has a twin plug for that reason.

Hmm weird the Classic 500 in that video deffinately has Twinspark cast on the cover, but on the RE website here in India they only list the 350 as having twinspark and that same coverplate doesn't have twinspark on it on the 500 model only the 350  :o
