Please be careful!  Honest, it takes quite a while to learn how to stay in control of a bike on dry hard pavement.  Unlike a car, sometimes a few years.  An icy, slushy, or frozen road is not recommended for anyone.  I know you probably aware of all this...but I couldn't keep from repeating it.  Motorcycles are a lot more fun if you don't fall off.

thanks for the advice but i'm probably not going to use it once december hits and for the time being i only go out with my dad who's been riding for 30+ years. i took a safety course to get my license but i don't think it was enough so i make sure i go out with my dad so i don't pick up any bad habits

Welcome to the good life, Nice bike !
On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

Hey GG,
What part of NY are you in?

I am down in New Rochelle.  There are some other folks in the area, though I have yet to meet any of them.

At that age I had a VF500 and the only thing that kept me alive was the fact that it only started 20% of the time.

An RE is a GREAT place to start, as is riding with your old man.  Practice being the best rider you can and it makes the fun parts all the more fun.

Good luck and welcome aboard!

p.s.
Your thread title is right on the money.  It is the good life.

Welcome aboard GrumpierG. As others have implied, take her easy for a while. Ask lots of questions, there are many good answers on this forum as well as the people.
