In the Adirondacks ? You Sir aRE hard core  ;)

The best riding Ive found and a nice weekend away. I rode a nice 10hr day on my 77 R100s this past June. I was re-living a ride I did in 96 on a Ninja 900. My destination was Rt17 in VT. It was a fun ride but the roads in NY were way better. I had to shift my riding technique as the R was my first airhead. Once I got comfortable with my shift points and using the motors strengths then it was all gravy. Almost like a magic key was given to me. Beauty ride at a swift "airhead pace"
Id be doing that type of riding with a Bullet. Not too crazy but spirited. However the ride to where we stay takes four hours of slab and secondary roads.
Well Im going down into the hacks section for a look see.. Kiddies to tow around in a couple of years!

On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

Hiho Fyr!
Another tyre recommendation:
http://www.mitas.cz/index.php?jazyk=english look for the H-03
A Czech company that has earned many good reviews on the German Enfield forum. Quite unexpensive, too. Note: they offer their website in English and American English, so finally those Yankees will know what things are  ;D

The Mita trials tires look like a good choice too.
