I did a 200 mile + ride this summer and enjoyed every minute. All 2 lane, mostly empty. When I got home, after a 30 minute rest and evaluation, was ready to do it again but it was time for the deer to come out.I wish I had someone to ride with, have never had this and think it would really add a lot.Don't really want to be part of a big group but one or two other bikes would be funner, sometimes.

That would be great, one of these days......

Absolutely,--Im with you 100% --big groups are crap --formation is dangerous --just a few mates is the best.

I never ride in a group, my mind reading abilities aren't good enough for that.

I don't like riding in group either...More a lone wolf and their is a certain staggered setup that all should adhere too when riding in a group...

on the back roads the rally rides are on there is almost no traffic  both in minn. and mo. all the riders are experienced and the number of riders is usually small

Thats what I mean by formation, I hate it, I don't like being told where to ride and If I fall out of formation I get 'looked at'!!

Ille ride where I think its safe to ride thank you,-- and in Thailand there are very slim opportunities.

Big arguments in my local club over this.

I traveld a couple of times on my G5 from Munich in southern Germany over the Alpes to Austria - up to 450 km/day. Once I lost the silencer´s bolt, that was the only problem that occured. On the Autobahn I maintain 110-120 km/h, but actually the bike is made for mountain roads. The handling is brilliant, the engine´s power production is transparent so it´s not even a big problem when it´s wet.
I think  travelling with the Bullet is very relaxing.

I felt relax just reading about it..That would be alot of fun and especially at the pace of the enfield..but any bike would be fun too.

Last century I regularly rode 125 to 150 miles a day and thought nothing of it. (I was much younger and stronger in the 1970's)  ::)

Now days I will ride my '08 RE Thumper ("Old Bill") every day fifty miles commute (each way) to and from work. I keep to the two lane roads where I can and hold my speed around 55, or sixty at the most. I quickly got rid of the stock bench seat and installed the least expensive of the CMW solo saddles. 8) The fifty mile ride is quite comfortable. "Old Bill" regularly drinks faster than eighty miles per gallon of 87 octane "Regular" gasoline. ;D

I did take one 325 mile trip with a friend this past summer. I rode "Old Bill" while he was riding his brand new Harley Davidson twelve hundred (that number might be a reference to the weight of the machine, or maybe it was the displacement of the engine?  ??? ) On some of the mountain roads going up the Cumberland Plateau, he was struggling, fighting his bike, while "Old Bill" twisted and carved the road like a real Motorcycle should.  8) I thoroughly enjoyed the run, although the next morning I did reinstall my windshield and have kept it on.  :D
