It turned out well thanks, here are some shots of it.,The  6.5 with the double reduction has plenty of power to keep the wheels spinning and it can go faster than you want to go on our track, really makes you appreciate suspension. We leave the tires aired down to as low as we can get away with which helps. As soon as we get some rain I want to work on the track with a grader.....

Single I cut my teath on an old Morgan and then a TR3, but owning a Landrover Discovery made me swear(a lot) off Brit built vehicles, though I do work on some older Landy's that I really like, doing some work on an old forward control right now....

Here's my own ironhead project. Looked pretty together off the truck (as in photo), but Now that it's in the shed I'm discovering all the curious decisions the PO made. Namely wiring.

Keep us posted on your project. I've seen it over on the XL Forum pages, right?

yes, the same. Actually I had seen a picture you posted and that was what inspired my center tank stripe to go from narrow at the seat end and flare out and come down the tank front like yours....good luck with it I have not started looking into the wiring much other than to lay out the harness and sort of figure out where it goes...

I imagine you've found J&P Cycles by now. They have just about everything. Jireh Cycles is good too.

After I spent 4 hours rewiring my tail section and creating my own connector sockets, shrink wrap insulation, etc., I went on J&P's website and found a rear harness for $14. Live and learn, though!

My current debacle is the primary caps- the PO dogged them down good without any O-rings, I'm guessing. I have the correct bung tool, and I've tried heat, a cheater bar, and even resigned myself to destroying them with a big cold chisel trying to loosen them up, with no success. I'm trolling Ebay for a new cover now.

I have gotten a few rides in, mostly throttle blipping runs to seat the rings. I have to figure out about getting it registered now. Amazing low end torque. Starts first or 2nd kick....

I sold my '72 XLCH years ago, but I've still got the limp! :D
On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

Lookin' good! My own bike has been put on hold 'til the cold breaks a little. I have a parts stockpile under my dining room table.

If it turns out half as well as yours has I'll be chuffed!
