Well, I went out and shot a big fat crow and fried him up. For the last two weeks I've been experimenting with tire pressure on my C5, dropping two pounds every couple of days till i got it down to 18 front and 22 rear. I freely admit that I was wrong and the manual doesn't have a typo like I thought. The only time I've ran pressure this low was on ridged framed bikes with girder forks, I couldn't believe it was right for the C5 but it is. As far as crows go, this one is delicious :D

I hope you had cornbread and gravy with that. ;)  I too thought the tire pressures in the manual were too low. but I was wrong :-[

Yeah, it is an improvement all right. It's amazing what I've learned after I found out that I didn't know everything ;D

Are you talking about Avon RoadRiders? I have them on my G5 and am currently experimenting with pressures.

Thank you very much!   I have been doing the same by trying different tire pressures.

So, the vin tag (mfr date - Jan 2010) on my C5 with Avon roadriders that says 24 front and 32 rear is incorrect?

 :D :D  I agree  -  shoot the bugger!

G5 owners manual tyre recommendations are 18 front / 28 rear. RoadRider manufacturer recommendations are 27/29. I'm currently running on 22/24, which seems fine. I'll try lower as soon as the rain lets up  -  could be a while..... :(

I don't know if the VIN tag is correct or not, mine says the same thing, But I think I'll follow the manual on this one.

I wouldn't say it is incorrect.  To date, I've been running with the pressures listed on the frame because that's how I got it from the dealer, and it hasn't been a problem.  It's just, so it seems, not all it could be.

I believe I'll be trying the lower pressures listed in the owner's manual starting tomorrow.

Seems like I read one of the posts (I spend way too much time reading) where the guy talked about lower tire pressure allowed his tire to spin/turn on the rim and caused his valve stem to pull loose.  He said it happened twice.  Hopefully the side walls are strong enough to hold up to that low of pressure?

Just to make certain here - we are talking about the OEM Avon's on the C5 - and NO - they aren't going to turn on the wheels. If I can't get the rear one to turn at about 10 pounds while riding the sh!t out of it - you aren't going to at all, either.
