After a GREAT 120 mile ride today (I'll put something in the ride report section later) I decided to see if the footpegs on the C5 can be set back a little, so my feet are a little more under me rather than in front.  I guess I need more knee bend.   On the long rides the rear pegs are sometimes useful.

I was very happy to see how easy it was to do.  The footpeg bar has a hexagonal hole, so the pegs can be set back 60 degrees at a time, plus a little wiggle room (slop).  I put them so the bar is straight up, not forward.  Some blue threadlocker stuff was put on and the nut was reattached.  The footpeg rubber was twisted by hand to get it level again.  The reach to the shifter and brake lever are fine.  I'll take it out for a ride later and let ya all know what I think.

That's the position mine came in from the dealer.  Maybe I should rotate mine forward.   :D

That's the way mine came too.
On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

That's good to know.  It could go back another setting and be okay, but that might make the reach to the (almost useless) rear brake a stretch.

If the rear brake is useless, it's out of adjustment.

Heh, I wrote that in jest.  I adjusted it when I got home today.

Joe, did Ducati Seattle get your Military all sorted out?

So far. Waiting to hear about a warrantied muffler. There's ridiculously low oil in it cold, but when hot, it's up where it should be.

I think mine are set in the more forward rotated position, maybe I'll try this.  Do the rubber covers stay in place once you rotated them?

I think they do.  I'll find out in the morning when I head out again.

They stay in place.  I've had mine off and on a few times.  The rubbers have never shifted after I put them back.

Aren´t there decent rear set footrests for the G5? The ones Watsonian builds in their gorgeous Clubman - can you buy these anywhere? Probably these could be made to fit on the C5 aswell.

Word of caution on moving R/H peg, on my C5 the peg comes into very hard contact with an engine casing bolt. Not a good thing

Maybe, but there is slop there and the contact is minimal.  Perhaps a washer would move the metal out more.  Or take a file and remove just enough of the metal so there is no contact.  I might do that if I feel the concern is warrented.

Too much rain here today for me to get out.  That and a family birthday dinner.

I was thinking...

Since they have a hex mounting locator can't you just swap left and right and leave them turned a bit but back instead of forwards?  It would move them further back, maybe two inches or so.

I think the two sides are the same part #, i.e. the same exact (in RE terms...) mounts.  They can go back a few inches with another 60 degree setting of the hex mount.  That might make the controls a stretch, unless you have big feet.

Yes, you might need to shorten the controls for this.
