I put the Old Fashioned Lysette Motorcycle Solo Seat on my Iron Barrel, replacing the original dual seat, and just love it.  I'd like to do the same on my new G-5, but as the frame is different, I don'k know if that's possible.

Soooo, the question... has anyone replaced the G-5 UCE dual seat with that Old Fashioned Solo Seat, or, for that matter, any of the single sprung seats?  And if so, any problems doing so to be aware of?  Or are they as simple to replace as doing so was on the old Iron Barrel Classic ES?  (I can't see under the G-5's dual seat to see if the requisite fittings are there to put an Old Fashioned Sprung Seat on, and can't qutie tell how the dual seat is bolted on --the classic ES was pretty simple -- 4 obvious bolts undone and the dual seat was off)

Thanx in advance for any and all fine wisdom! :D

I guy I know did it not long ago though I'm not sure what seat he used.  The UCE bikes are a little different on mounting since the brackets are a little different than the older bikes but there are solo seats available.

I did. The vintage licette or whatever it is called
Undo the 4 bolts (by the grabrail) and the dual seat is off.

The G5 frame has no ready place for supporting the springs and different solutions are being offered. Check here.

I went for the "british" (more elegant) solution, but I'm not sure if the "US" solution today- is still the same as on the pic.

The "british" solution came with instructions, but to me, it isn't really straight bolt on.
I had (have) a problem with the front attachment, -but I've missed things before  :-[

PM me for details - also I may be able to help you otherwise

Thanks, Guys!

And Vitalc, If you don't mind my asking, where did you get your "British Solution" for the seat mounts?  Is there a web site where one can order that?   It sounds like you finally got it to work - I suspect with a little filing or prying here and there.

I tried to put on the G-5 Saddle Bag holders from Nfieldgear -- spent 2 hours messing with the left side one, but the holes didn't line up as they should have for a straight bolt on, and as I needed the bike, I gave up for the moment and put everything back together. (getting the top shock bolt out and back into its hole was a royal pain!)

And thanks for the URL!

The Old Fashioned Solo seat WILL fit the G5. If did notice that the description in the online store does not mention this.

I fitted the studded single seat from Haywoods on  my G5,
it was a simple bolt on to the top of rear shocks
and works better for me as it is lower than the duel seat
and can reach the floor better

Looks very good too!
On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

My G5 came with the old school solo seat.  See Here: http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com/forum/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=2999

As for how to, don't know, I'm sure it is fairly straight forward though.

Nice!  Very Nice!

And thanks, Kevin!  Glad the Lysette Seat can fit... my backbone will be happy!
