Most shock absorbers just fade away.... the Enfield's just bust....at 9000 miles! I thought all I had to worry about was the engine quitting. What's next--is the front wheel going tio come off when I'm going round a curve?

I'll try welding it back on first..... the hagons might make the rest of the bike look a bit shabby.

I noticed that when I had mine apart to change the springs. Just two little tack welds is all that holds the top on. Thanks for the heads up. (edit) Hey wait a minute, that is the threaded part isn't it? The tack welds I'm referring to are still there, holding the threaded boss below the eye.  It looks to me as though the threads pulled out

There were no threads, it was just pressed in. I wonder if I should cut to the chase and weld the other side........... Na, that wouldn't be any fun!

Wow, so how the heck does that shock come apart?( punch line-"All By Itself") That end screws off on my 05E. Does it have split keepers like most other shocks(of that period)?

It has a split keeper. It was made in 2001. I guess they made some improvements. Hey! Great clock video Cyrus.

This does not look good.  How old is this bike ?  Hope it is not one of the new UCE bikes.

Watch that welding on a shock! I've seen one get hot enough to blow the oil out of it and make everyone standing there dance like ...... like ...... like their asses WERE on fire! Wrap the oil filled part in a wet towel to keep it cool ......

I arc welded it. I used a vise grip as a heat sink just in case.
