I know it's not s performance bike but I am curious about the claimed top speed of the C5 pf 85 MPH.  Also, the claimed 85 MPG.  Can anyone attest to these figures?

I think claimed top speed is actually 82mph and yes, people are hitting it.  Then again, that's on the speedo which is a little optimistic.  Suffice it to say it's a reasonable claim and probably accurate.

I think the 85mpg is based on a larger, English gallon or something.  Most posts here are in the 60-65mpg area.  I'm getting just under 60mpg and I'm not fully broken in yet.

I had my G5 up to 80mph, briefly, and it had a bit more available. It felt a bit unstable. It's happy to do 70 - 75mph for a short run up the dual carriageway, but I wouldn't want to do it continuously for a long run. It'll do 60mph all day without complaint, especially since changing the exhaust, which increased the sweet spot by a few mph.
I have never got less than 82 mpg - UK gallon. Best was 87 mpg.

I have seen 85 on the clock, however accurate that may or may not be. MPG is really good: I have had 94 best and 79 worst but that was before the engine had bedded in properly. Nowdays never under 82.

Yes, my mpg figures are for UK gallons, i.e. 4.56 litres. I think your fuel consumption will improve with mileage, mine did. I probably get such good mpg because most of my journies are 50 miles plus. The longer the ride the better the mpg, I've noticed that.

I've seen about 87 indicated on the clock - the lighter, more aerodynamic wife has seen 90 indicated. That's just touching on the rev limiter. REAZ is the one to talk about gas mileage with - he gets a PHENOMENAL return on the gallon up in the hills of Sunny Arizona at altitude, carving the corners. My old shop mule got a pretty consistent 78mpg's for the short time I had to track it .....

Mine runs 145 km/h (speedo), consumption between 2,9-3,3 l/100km, thats 84-94 mpg (based on the british one 4,56l).
I´m still waiting for my 18 tooth sprocket. With an extended ratio both figures may improve.

I've hit 80mph on mine for a short time, I've got 85mpg out of it too.

Mine's still in the break in with just over 300 miles on the clock, but I drove it on the rural highway this weekend and had it up to 65 indicated.  Had plenty left at that pace.  My spedo is off though, riding with a buddy and his indicated speed was about 5 mph less than mine at road speed.  This common?

RE speedometers generally show a little higher speed than actual.  But some units are accurate.  I had tested my G5 and these are the results from my post of last year.

Just bought a TomTom on Thanksgiving.  So l thought of checking speedometer readings on my G5 versus GPS.  Here are my results.

                                  60  mph                       55

                                  70  mph                       65

                                  80  mph                       75

At lower speeds, the difference between speedometer and acutal speed is only 2 mph (less).  It increases to 5 mph (less than actual) at 60 mph and then remains constantly off by 5 mph (less than actual).

I had my G5 reach 80 mph (after correction for my speedometer overestimation).  It is great for gas consumption - consistently 70 mpg (US gallon), which is equal to 83 miles per British gallon.

I regularly cook alon at 60-70 mph.  Still room to go but I don't like going super fast.  I get just about 70 mpg with 92 octane ethanol gas the we have here in NY.

The longer the ride the better the mpg, I've noticed that.

Yup, air cooled fuel injected bikes run rich until they get to full temp.  My Ducati got 44mpg commuting (8 miles each way) but about 52mpg on long rides even when I beat the snot out of it.

Your bike ran at 145 km/h, which is 91 mph.  Have you verified if the speedometer readings are accurate ?  It may be over estimating a bit.

You can verifiy by putting a GPS on the tank or handle and noting the readings on GPS and speedometer.

I have seen my speedo a shade over 140 KMPH (that is close to 87 MPH) !!
But I have heard from friends in Europe going over 90 MPH on the Speedo.
