NIce Milestone,

Quinn

I had posted my experiences with the bike throughout the UCE section in the last one year.   When it completed 5000 miles, I had also posted about its maintenance.  Click on the link below and read the whole post to get an idea of this bike.

http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com/forum/index.php/topic,7058.0.html

After that detailed post, I have covered 3000 more miles.  During this period, I have washed it a few times, lubed cables, changed oil, adjusted clutch cable, changed spark plug, lubed chain and often overlooked but important - adjusted chain.  I change oil every 2000 miles or less (book says 3000 miles).  Nothing major.

It is best to take care of this bike during the first 2000 miles.  It gets better afterwards.

8K miles in Jersey, that's alot of saddle time, we have a pretty small state. Good job.

Thank you for the link back to your post.  I actually looked before I asked the question, but I have not figured out how to do a search ;by Poster yet.

That was a good report.  It must have been disconcerting to have to deal with the tranny issues, hopefully they recalled it during the Winter!  Your winters in Jersey are not as long as ours in NH but riding weather is precious in any season and a bike being down for a recall is the very definition of frustration.

Any case, thanks for the note. good luck on the next 5000 miles,  I hope to be filing a similar report myself one day, 'cept mine will be trouble free!   ::)

How about "thunder Road" by another famous Garden Stater. (Bruce Springsteen).
