hello,

i have a bullet 500 avl 2009 model.

I just replaced the 5 3/4" headlamp with a brighter headlamp.

Now my high beam indicator is always "on" and lit up blue.

The lamp does switch between low and high beam, just the indicator always shows "high" and lit up with the blue color.

Any suggestions?

My wiring i think is correct,
left - green
top - orange
right - blue

any help or thoughts appreciated.

-Pete

Mine did the same after I installed the 7 inch headlight.  The high beam indicator must work off of current draw to be lit.  So I guess the low beam on the new headlight must be about as much current draw as the high beam was on the old light.

I installed the Smiths retro speedo that doesn't have any warning lights so disconnected that part of the harness, no more annoying high beam on light.  But of course there aren't any warning lights at all.  Just an illumination light.

Welcome aboard pmv and congrats on your Bullet.

Mine did the same as yours when I switched to halogen headlamp.
Turns out I connected the wires out order.

Give me a bit to go pull the assembly off my Bullet and write down the colour and terminal match.

Modified to add:

When viewed from the back of the assembly.
Orange to the left, Green to the top and Blue to the right.

Ice's wiring tips worked like a charm.

"When viewed from the back of the assembly.
Orange to the left, Green to the top and Blue to the right."

my halogen headlamp now shines correctly and indicator hi beam lights up only when on actual high beams.

thanks ice!

What headlamp did you use ? Just curious.

Hey, thanks!  I just replaced the stock headlight on my C5 with a 5 3/4" Wagner halogen sealed beam and had it hooked up wrong.  I very little power on my low beam and the high beam indicator always on.  Thanks to this thread it only took a few minutes to figure out.

The Wagner sealed beam definitely throws more light but I've already got a 5 3/4" H4 conversion on the way.  That will get me up to 55/60 watts instead of the current 35/35.  I'll do the 7" conversion one day but it's too much money right now.
