I have recently become the owner of a new Clubman 500 EFI and whilst trawling the internet for a decent Royal Enfield forum for contact with like minded RE owners found this one (which is the best I've seen). This my first post and this is my beloved Clubman, It's having its first service this weekend and so far I am loving it... let's hope it's a long summer!!!!!!!

Welcome, Fine looking bike you have there!
On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

Welcome to the forum! Yes, it is the best one and I'm delighted there's another Clubman owner here.  :) I've had mine for just over six months and am approaching the 4,000 mile mark. It's a fantastic bike and as much as you love it at 500 miles, (I did too), you'll find it gets better for a while yet. I am now getting 85mpg while holding 65-80 on the clock. That indicates a very nicely bedded in engine to me!

Great to hear from another Clubman owner and to hear that things are only going to get better!!  ;D The mpg that you are getting sounds pretty damn good to me, have you encountered any problems along the way, or is there anything that I should be aware of?

Thanks for the insight, especially about the amount of fuel that is left when the warning light comes on which is very useful to know.

Like you I won't be doing any commuting and am looking forward to some nice long runs once the initial service and running in period is over. I would be interested to hear your advice regarding how you run your Clubman in, as although the hand book does provide guidance I have been informed that this doesn't have to be stuck to rigidly?!

Run your motorcycle in by the book!  I didn't consider my avl run in until I had 1,000 miles on it and still went by the book for another 500 miles. Its a pain to do but IMHO well worth it. I now have over 4,000 miles on it and it idles well, starts with 1 kick hot 1 or 2 cold. Gets 68.5 mpg and can cruise 50-55 with no problem. I have had 0 problems with this motorcycle. So far I have done all the maintenance myself. oil change, cable lube, chain adjust, nut and bolt check and have enjoyed doing it.

Those aluminium tanks have sensors to tell you when you're getting low on gas?  Really?
So Mr 'Balls- where did that seat come from?  Comfy factor?  Might we get a look in closer to how it's made?

I didn't stick to the speed limits given since that was something like 35mph at first if I remember correctly. I did stick to the throttle openings advised and if anything was more cautious. Since they allow half throttle from the start it wasn't really a problem. I found it would pull 50-55 in top on a whiff of throttle as I'm sure you do. After 500 at no more than 55mph I gradually increased up to 80 over the next 500. (Gradually being 5mph increments.) To this day I have never used full throttle though I must have been close. Although I was no longer consciously running in after 1000m I found performance continued to improve up to about 1500. Enjoy!  :)
