Had reason to ride my B5 around town (Portland, OR) then made excuses to keep riding. Up to Mt. Tabor, down Morrison, across the bridge to downtown. circling back. Taking a right here, a left there. Enjoying the ride. A couple guys sitting at a cafe, owners of a pair of nice Hondas out front, I presume, actually applauded the bike as I rode by.

Haha. We should do it again sometime. It's dialed in pretty good now.
I would love to but I'm 400 miles away at the beach in SoCal.

I rode up the coast to Pt. Mugu via Mulholland and back. I saw a turquoise C5 near the Ventura County Line on PCH. Anybody we know?

Oil and filter change before my ride up to Seattle this Saturday.  There was less metal than I expected from the cast iron AVL piston rings.

Finally adjusted my pushrods!
Was going to get to it this weeknd but my foreman got sick of that LOUD exhaust valve, because it disturbs the exhaust note he loves ;)
Amazing what 0.5mm makes...so quite and smooth now!

I see no problem with that, I'm saddened that when I have a gig I cannot ride my bike because of all the gear.  For once I'd like to be able to gig, and then jump on the bike afterwards  8)

I took a short ride around the new neighborhood yesterday after work.  I had 3 different kids wave to me as I was riding, I smiled as I waved back to all 3 of them.   :)   After my ride, I tested the battery and it appears that I'm only using .1 volts for about every half hour of riding with the LED taillight installed.  That means I can safely take much longer rides without my alternator working, so I decided to ride to work today.  She sure is a load of fun to ride with plenty of power for any situation.   ;)

Scottie, is it your regulator/rectifier or the alternator/generator that's the problem?  If it's the reg/rect, check out Oregon Motorcycle Parts.  The guy is really cool and makes some solid parts that have cured many peoples charging system issues.  I believe he carries some 6V stuff too, which is what I'm guessing you need.

If it's the alternator/generator, well, there are some pages out there on rewinding the wiring yourself.

Progress, then, perhaps?

Less drag than id thought ;)

Also learnt...the hard way...how tight the lock nuts on the tappets should be!
After a terrible noise and loss of compression.
This is why you carry a tool roll!

Ha! How I wish, mate!
The only thing I own these days which could be described as thin is my wallet.

It's been a few different freak situations that has caused the rotor to rub on the alternator taking out every component in the charging system every time.  Honestly, I'm no hurry to buy a 3rd alternator and rectifier.
