Ride a scooter. It will make your RE feel like a Superbike when you get it back. ???? Just don't let your friends see you on it.

I feared for the life and well being for my bike all day.  I think I just moved into Little Compton.  I have full coverage but I think I should get my bike appraised just in case.  This sucks.  Maybe I should just put the bike into storage.    :-\

Spent a few hours trying to figure out why the brake light >:( was working only with the lights off, but then when lights on...no action.  Looked at all the wiring, voltmeter out, pulled tank, seat and the head light.  What was it?  The LED 1157 bulb freaked out; some type of internal fault or short.  Put LEDs on it from Superbright a year ago.

Put the original back in, back in business.  Lesson learned (again! :o)... start with the easy stuff!

Couldn't stand it anymore so I threw the bike back together and went for a ride :-)  Played with new camera harness and settings as well...

Hi Scottie, Here is what I have experienced. Most insurance companies are weasels. Even with full coverage, they will try to beat you down when a claim is made on an old bike. I beat the system when I had insured the bike I later crashed with HAGARTY CLASSIC INSURANCE, they had decent rates, & the best part was that I they have an "agreed upon value" I got a check for $6k when my bike was totaled - no arguments.
They only require: It be garaged, not a "daily commuter", photos.  I did commute in a car insured with them, but could have called it a joy ride if there was trouble.
Might want to check them out since your bike is at least 25 years old. Good Luck!
Best Wishes, Craig McClure

Thanks for the video ascatfan.
A nice relaxing trip showing the desert plants with their yellow blooms was a nice bonus. :)

I may have just fixed my saddlebag problem - they kept slipping back on the rails.

I bought the express leather saddlebags over the winter, and while they looked great on the bike, after every ride they'd have slipped all the way back and just looked sad.

Plan A was some kind of hook. Plan B was zip ties. Plan C was some kind of little hose clamp, but my worry was that the metal might damage the paint. Then I lucked out - they make insulated cable clamps that have rubber on the interior of the clamp. Bought four of them (5/8") and some hardware to secure them. Looks almost like the clamps belong there - and that's if you're looking for them.

I haven't taken her for a ride to test their effectiveness yet, but there's not enough clearance between the clamps and the fender for the leather to slip through, and the clamps sure aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Oh, also oil change on friday. 20w50 Lucas synthetic. The old oil was good and dirty (as was expected) with minimal metal shavings (which was unexpected.) She took the whole two quarts. No leaks, and no problems!

I enjoyed that, too.  It showed me a lot of scenery that I don't see here in Virginia.

I have 2 scooters, an '09 Genuine Stella 2 stroke, and a 2012 Yamaha Zuma 125. The Zuma will keep up with the Enfield up to about 60.

Replaced the broken original silencer with an Emgo Dunstall replica. Had to stretch (expand) the silencer's mouth over 40 thousandth of an inch. The Emgo should last until I can afford a new EFI exhaust system. Without the heat shield, the header is beyond ugly because of the 'India chrome'.
