Yesterday I filled my primary with Type F ATF fluid and the clutch started slipping bad.  So I drained it all out and sprayed an entire can of brake cleaner on the clutch assembly and refilled the primary with Valvoline 20W50 motorcycle oil.  I went out for a quick ride and the clutch slip seems to be fixed.  But I did a test just to make sure.

I just looked at in in the garage, even if I had the new alternator, it was a rare rain day anyway...  :'(

A quick story from my ride yesterday.  So as most of you know I keep my bike tuned on the rich side and like to make my exhaust talk back.  Well as the weather is warming up the bike is running even a little richer than before and with the timing at 34* full advance I've discovered that when I back off of a heavy half throttle+ acceleration and close it quick without shifting gears, it gives off 3 or 4 big nasty cracks then gargles and pops for a bit.  Well, not thinking anything of it and enjoying my ride, I come flying down this hill hard in 3rd  and as I get to the bottom I close the throttle .  Well, this unsuspecting black urban teenager was walking/dancing along the sidewalk with his headphones and skinny jeans down past his ass.  ::)  I'm about 30' behind when I closed the throttle at a "faster than posted speed" and the Blackhawk belts out 2 backfires that were so loud it made MY ears ring!  Immediately followed by 3 more not as loud pops.  That poor kid jumped so high his headphones fell off his head and I thought for sure he was going to dive into the ditch before he realized it was only me!  I felt kind of bad but at the same time I almost fell off of my bike I was laughing so hard!     ;D

Rode around in the rain.  It is looking like monsoon season has come to Minnesota.
I really love good gear, lets me make people think I am nuts while I stay nice and dry.

Since I'm waiting on parts, I went ahead and installed the luggage rack on. I'll take some pictures, but I didn't use the upper shock support because it would have tilted forward.

I found these British flag decals on eBay. 4"x2", perfect fit for the rectangular side covers.

Success!  The charging system rewire seems to have worked. I put the 55/60W headlight back in and at moderate cruising RPM I get about 13.5V at the battery.  I may still get an aftermarket regulator/rectifier.

Scott

Maybe not :(  It works fine while I'm moving but after lots of stop and go on the way home yesterday, the battery seems a bit tired.  I'll probably go back to the 35W headlight to be safe.  That one doesn't seem to cause me grief.

Added the luggage rack w/pillion to the bike.  Still waiting for the new alternator though.  Nfield gear didn't make the rear pad in tan so I took it to have it covered to match the saddle, I should get it back this afternoon...

Oh, yeah, I remember now.  I bought those turn signals a year ago, and got the single wire ones - had a bit of a job wiring them.  Nice to know NFG is supplying ones that work for our bikes out of the box!
