Before you bend it, check to see if the front fork lock works.
If it does, did the fork come to a stop and allow the lock to be engaged or did the fork turn past the locking position?
If it went past the locking position and you needed to rotate the handlebars back to the right to get the lock to engage then the stop could be adjusted a bit to stop the handlebars & fork from turning that far.
If the fork stops turning at the same time that the lock will engage, straightening the lock stop back out might keep the fork lock from being able to engage.
