Reaching home I parked it on its center stand before switching off the engine, walked up to the mail box & back, & MY SIGHT GLASS WAS TOTALLY FULL UP.

You should turn it off and let it sit on the center stand for a few minutes while you take your gear off, then check it. it should be about the middle of the glass.
Check it in the same spot every time, pointed the same way. If your garage has any slope at all it will read differently if checked in another spot or orientation.

Took another shot at soldering my broken oil feed line and finally nailed it!  I seriously tried soldering this damn thing a dozen different times.  It was either still leaking, or crooked or whatever.  But I went out to the garage early this morning and gave it another go with a slightly different technique and now it doesn't leak a drop.   :D   So after that I decided to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather today and went down to the car wash and gave her a nice bath and washed off all of the spewed oil.  After I had The Blackhawk all shiny again I took a cruise around town rattling all the Sunday drivers' windows.   ;D   The bike is running soooooo good, but the clutch is cooked.  Anything over 1/3 throttle at 4000+RPMs and the clutch just breaks loose.  Still a blast to ride!   ;D

It feels so good when a repair succeeds and holds at last.
Relax, enjoy the pause...  ;D

Nice work Scottie,

I took the RE out today also.  Looped through Central City, then down to Evergreen and the Kerr Gulch cutoff down to 74 and into Morrison for lunch.  Then back up Golden Gate Canyon/Crawford Gulch to home.

Was a great riding day today.  I don't know how many more are in the cards for us out here for the rest of the year.

Cheers,

Dan K.

I know!  67*F yesterday and supposed to snow tomorrow!  At least we live in Colorado and there will probably be some nice riding days in December and January when the likes of riders in the Midwest huddle around their fireplace.   ;D

Readjusted my valve lash last night.  Even at .005 lash, the motor is just so noisy.  Which is weird because the manual calls for .005 lash when "the motor is at constant higher RPMs".  It was so damn loud on the highway it was making my ears ring!  Uurrrrgh!  So I went back and set them the same way I did last time, basically set the valves as tight as I could and still hear a "tick" play in the rocker.  Didn't finish until late tho so didn't get a chance to fire and warm it up.

From what manual did you got that .005" number? That doesn't sound like an RE produced Manual.
The bike is supposed to have zero lash, just loose enough to be able to spin the pushrods.

I was wondering the same thing, though the zero clearance is for the singles.  Not sure what it's supposed to be on twins.

Right out of the Constellation manual.  Look at the very bottom.

My old book says .002" for the exhaust and that's for all Enfields including the Bullet.

I have copies of the original manuals.  They must have changed the clearances later after they realized that .005 is too damn noisy.

Kinda makes sense to run a little more clearance on the exhaust.  They get hotter and tend to grow a bit more, especially if you're running at continuous high speed.

Never saw another engine that called for zero clearance before the RE.

Got rid of the OEM trafficators and installed a set of Bullet Turn Signals PN Z90457 w/the 2" stems. Definitely looks more better.  ;D

Thanks, Scottie.
After posting the pics I decided I dislike the gaiters so much I cut them off.
Spent 3 hours getting them on, and 5 minutes getting them off.  ::)
