I went into work and fixed my clutch problems today. Turned out the clip that connects the cable to the lever sheared off. I custom fabbed a new one out of 1/2" stainless steel tubing. It won't break again.
Them I gave the friction plates a real good cleaning with brake cleaner. Clutch now works better than it ever has! NO slippage at all and a nice range of feel thru the entire pull.
Then on my way home there was some pretty light traffic, I had on all the my gear, and now that motor is broken in nice and running great with about 1600 miles clocked, I decided to run her for all she had coming down I-70. I had a nice open straight stretch with no traffic in front of me for about 2 miles. The temp and weather was perfect, 65*F clear skies and no wind. The fastest I've run it before was 89mph GPS/112mph Smiths Speedo. This afternoon I just stayed in it to win it! The needle kept creeping so I kept cranking! Closer and closer, little by little.......
I DID IT! I BURIED THE SPEEDO AT 125MPH!!!
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!I'm not a rocket scientist by any means, but by my math with my speedo being about 20% fast, that is good for
EXACTLY 100mph! Damn I wish I had the GPS turned on!
Holy crap what a rush on a 55 year old bike!
