Bought a 2011 C5 Classic and rode ~150 miles today. Joy to ride!

Very nice choice! And that windscreen is one of a kind. So clean it almost seems nonexistent lol. Am I tripping?  :o

I want that windshield - doesn't detract from the exquisite lines of the bike. :)

Replaced the AWOL nut on the shifter retainer bolt with an extra dose of Loctite.

Installed a new Hitchcock's throttle cable and replaced the worn throttle tube with a Honda one.  WOT without digital gymnastics.

Monday night I reinstalled the passenger grab bar so I had SOMETHING to strap my tools to for work.  Yesterday rode the bike to work, I didn't lose any oil this time, but I did lose a nut to my battery bracket and also the bolt that holds the front of the chain guard in place.  Needless to say I had some obnoxious ass rattles going on, but the bike ran really good. 60 miles at 65mph and other than losing some hardware (thankfully no parts fell off  :) ) the bike seems to be worthy of a road trip.  After I got home I addressed the missing hardware with some leftovers in the garage and gave them a good application of Loc-Tite.  Then I went thru the bike and tightened other bolts including the head bolts.  Finished up by finally replacing my leaky fuel petcocks (I've had the new ones for over a month).

Finally installed a copper/asbestos crush washer from Aircraft Spruce on the exhaust pipe (suggested by Bare a while ago). it looks to be great quality as opposed to the horrible stock asbestos ones.... I've already burnt through 3 of those.

the correct size is 1-1/2", part no. AN900-24,  $0.78 + $2 Shipping.

hopefully it holds up well. Thanks bare.

Ah, the good old AN 900.  It's an old Army/Navy spec.
I've used those several times in gas turbine engine design. :)

Will those gaskets work for my old 700 twin?  I'm not sure if there's supposed to be a gasket in there out not.  ???
