Low voltage causes Halogen bulbs to burn out quicker too.  If it's an AC headlight then lots of time idling might do it.  Hasn't with mine, but theoretically...

Yup.  That's a good picture of a totally screwed up chain sprocket.

On the bad side, the sprocket is a part of the brake drum so you'll have to buy the whole thing (plus the new chain).  You might have to get a new front sprocket too but unlike the soft rear sprocket, the front one is usually hardened steel so it might have survived the wear.

On the good side, you've always wanted to get into your rear brake and lightly lubricate the moving surfaces and now's your chance to do it.

That's why I bought it! Wish I had an air conditioned garage, though.

Took my Electra 65 miles north from Glasgow to Inverary - a small town on Loch Fyne - and back.

Weather great, bike running well. She didn't even mind the 4 mile long ascent to the highest point of the A83, known as 'The Rest And Be Thankful". I was pleasantly surprised at how comfy my new solo seat from Hitchcocks was. The springs were certainly doing their job.

I would quite like to stick on the TTO tachometer I removed from my last bike before I sold it. This is very neat, and has just one wire  coming from it.  You wrap the last few cm if it round the HT lead, and it is good to go.

Thanks, except for the original downpipe, the exhaust is made up of parts from Hitchcocks:

91080   SILENCER, FOR CLASSIC OR ELECTRA EFI WITH LONG INLET
12882   SILENCER CLIP
91049   HEAT SHIELD WITH CLIPS, chrome (30cm long)
91095   FISH TAIL

Cheers,
Blair

That's a substantial windscreen!

Looks like a very nice ride.

Hi Alan,  the screen is great, but I have no idea what brand it is.  It came out of my brother's garage.  He bought it for a Honda Deauville he ran about 23 years ago.  The bike went, and the screen stayed. I haven't seen anything currently available that looks like it.

I brimmed the petrol tank before I set off, and then again 80 miles in. Consumption was near enough  80 mpg. I held a steady 60 mph for most of the trip, but I think the screen had a part to play in that as well.

Today I rode 8 miles home from Queens to Manhattan in by far the very heaviest downpour of a long, wet day. Half a block after I started I was already soaked, but there was nothing to do but continue.

It was the wettest ride I've ever had on any two-wheeled vehicle; when I arrived, my boots were full of water. Surprisingly, my top half was mostly dry. I was wearing a Tucano Urbano light raincoat (with armor) that sealed well at the neck. But my pants were soaked through to the johnson within 30 seconds. I have rain pants, but I was cocky and thought I could get home without needing them.

I rode slower than usual and kept my brakes dry. One of the things I learned is that if you're careful, you can ride an Enfield through six-inch-deep standing water with no casualty except your dry feet.

Received my Reverse Megaphone silencer, installed it and logged a 50-mile ride! Gusting winds with a few drops here and there, but very enjoyable! Again.  :)

spent the day modifying a 40x48 inch harbor freight trailer kit for hauling the B5.

Going to test it tomorrow with a 200 mile drive to Lanesboro, MN.
