Make sure that silencer is on tight! I checked mine once after getting it back, but on about the 5th ride it fell off. It suddenly got really loud, but it took me quite awhile to realize that it wasn't just a crack or something loose, but that the silencer had actually fallen off. Good thing I ride in the right lane.

Broke the Speedo cable....  ???
Don't know how...just sorta happened (which, as I understand, is not so uncommon)
But, I guess that qualifies as "doing" something today  ;D

Jack and I did a little 200+ miler today down into North San Diego County. It was a beautiful day and the roads were excellent except for the spots that were being paved. But one repaving job turned us onto a detour that was a really great road! A bit short, but fun!
Apparently my shorting problem from a couple of weeks ago has been cured.
Now all I have to do is teach that bike of mine to quit melting all the things I buy from Cycle Gear. So far it's gotten a jacket, a helmet and a fanny pack!

Just finished mounting an Avon AM26 on the rear of my G5. Now Ive got them front and rear. I sure hope they last longer than the K70's Ive been eating up ! More to be revealed !

I'm over 11k miles on my original AM26s.  I don't ride aggressively.  The tread is starting to feather and I can feel it if I push the bike deep in a corner but there's plenty of tread left.

Put some light grease, Dri Slide or speedo cable lube, available at your local auto parts store, on the new one before you install it.

I finally got everything worked out with my insurance company on my bike. They paid for the tow, my helmet, and jacket. They gave me the purhase price for the bike and asked if I wanted anything off of it, or wanted it back. Only $700 would get it, very tempting. I think I could actually fix it with a little time, and also considered parting it out. What's a good UCE motor/trans worth anyway? I offered the bike to the shop that did the estimate for a grand, they where really interested, but I don't think they wanted to cough up the dough.  In the end I think I'll just cut my losses and let it go. Too bad, I really liked that bike.

Good decision.  While I'm sure you could get it back together for the money you'd get just start fresh.  They gave you full purchase price so you can.  Now you won't have any odd parts to chase down in India or anything like that.

Stock muffler or aftermarket?

No ride to me today.  It was already a steady rain when I left the house.  Should be that way for a week or more.  Fall has come to the Pacific Northwest with a vengence.

I've seen several reports of baffles coming loose in the EFI and EFI high.  A friend went through two of them before he got one that seemed to last.  I think there was a report of the Bulletwala short bottle muffler for UCEs where it happened too.  I saw one stock muffler where the mounting collar crackedd away from the bazooka but other than that I haven't seen any failures there.

I've got an EMGO reverse cone that I've had on for a few weeks.  Cheap and it's holding up pretty well.  I'll do a post on it later.
