I added an old British mortar shell holder to the back. It's watertight, but I don't know what I'll put in it. Looks cool though.

Funny, the first thing that popped into my mind was a fishing rod.   ;D

Spare inner tubes, large tire irons, some cookies, and a big thermos. Maybe registration in the lid?

In a couple of months, I'm taking Harriet (2012 Bullet) for a month adventure, and am planning to combine biking and fishing for the first time... It's all I have on my mind at the moment!
Need to decide whether to make the jump to Tenkara, or stick with traditional fly...

Added "Tail Bag" ($50.00amazon.com) to rack I made last year for long rides or camping trips,  which mounts to pillion seat frame.

Tested bag by riding out on a 200 mile North Cascades moutain and forest ride.  8)

It worked! Now I can bring everything I want, and have easy access. Heavy items ride low in panniers. Bag easily detaches with carry handle.  :)

Also stopped by newest RE dealer; North Cacades HD (and RE). Nice place, good selection, good vibes (pun intended...)  ;)

Hard Panniers came from "Blue Garage" in India. They are also available on ebay from various sellers.

Mine offered the option of being painted in any stock RE color and came with hand made brackets (which I had to modify and add a rear brace to.)

It wasn't "today", it was this weekend.

Applied silicone to the engine case joint to stop a persistent leak from the gasket.  Swapped out the accelerator cables.  Washer her down good.  Attached some cheap saddlebags to allow easier transportation of my raingear.  Joined the local One Ride 2019 group for an outing to Circasia.

She's running smooth and as always is a hoot to ride.

Just rode the bloody beauty to and from my son's little league baseball game. Could use a tank full of fresh fuel as the current is from last May. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

I replaced the rear drive chain today on my 2011 G5 Deluxe with a RK 530 KS heavy duty chain.  This is a non-O-Ring chain but that's fine with me.  So was the one I removed.

The last time I changed the rear drive chain was back in January, 2012.

The OEM chain had gone a total of 3,566 miles and during that time it needed adjusting 4 times.  When I removed it, it was totally worn out.  The wear was due to poorly heat treated links that rapidly wore as I rode.  I am kind of a nut when it comes to keeping my drive chain lubed so I know a lack of lube isn't the reason it wore so quickly.

I replaced it with a Made in USA, Diamond brand 530 chain.  After removing the OEM chain I took a close look at it and was surprised to notice it too was a Diamond chain.  The difference was, it was a Diamond chain that was made in India.

The replacement USA Diamond chain that I removed today has lasted a total of 18,682 miles.  It only needed adjusting 3 times and it is still in a good enough condition that it could easily go another 5,000 miles.

I better go out and give the new chain a workout now. :)
