Since my body weight is ~250 lbs., I decided to crank the pre-load of my rear shocks all the way up (2 notches).  I went for a 50 mile test ride thru the Virginia country roads where I live.

Results: I decided that I definitely didn't like this setting at all, so I backed the adjustment down to the place it was originally.  I am now happy again.

I haven't ridden in over 2 weeks.  Finally decided to fire up the Blackhawk to run and get a 6 pack.  I was wondering how many kicks it was going to take, it fired as I was cycling thru to find TDC.   :D   let her warm up ride about 200' and realize the rear tire is flat.  I no longer have my big compressor and my portable 12v compressor I must of accidentally packed up and took out to the shop.   :(

I'd rather have a dead tire than a dead engine any day.  And a stand up bicycle pump is also nice to have in the garage.  I never fire up my compressor, not even to top up the cars.

Anyone found any that look good?  A nice warm incandescent look, rather than the ultra-white, almost blue ones that I got - which I don't like?

I got warm whites from superbriteleds.com

First stab at installing Hitchcock's wide tractor saddle for Fat American Asses was a mixed success... Had to do some minor modding to the front bracket to get it to bolt up with the frame mount. The springs that come with the saddle are on the verge of being too weak to support my Fat American Ass, so I'm gonna do some more modding to get the stouter OEM seat coil springs to work with this saddle. But probably not 'til September, as I fly back out in two days to rejoin the WarHorse tour in Japan for the month of August...

I also added the Hitchcock's electronic self-canceller (stock #92029, ridiculously expensive and not currently available) to Fiona... It works quite well, and the ability to have 4-way flashers & escort flashers is a nice bonus, although the turn signal indicator switch modification was a PITA to execute...

Pedestrian slicer w/Fiona's reg number is ordered from Frampton's. It'll probably arrive just as I touch down in Tokyo.

Seat looks good.  They should just call it the 'Fat Ass American Saddle'.

Got any pics?  Especially comparison between incandescent and warm white LED?

I put up a new roof for my G5.

My house doesn't have a garage or car port to park my motorcycle in so shortly after I bought it I put down a couple of 1/2 inch thick plywood sheets on the ground.
I bought one of those "pop up" 10 X 10 foot dining canopies and lashed it down with steel cable guy wires at each corner.

I really didn't expect the thin cloth cover to last over a year with the Arizona sun beating down on it 300 out of 360 days a year but much to my amazement, after 3 years it still was holding together.  It was still even waterproof to ward off the occasional storms we get here.
The house is protecting most of it from the wind storms we get.

Well, from most windstorms.

Last week we had a doosie though.  The rain poured down almost an inch worth in less than 20 minutes.  It was also blown by winds that were easily over 50 mph so the rain was falling more horizontally than vertically and I could hear the canopy flapping.

After the storm left I went out and found about half of the cloth canopy ripped and folded back over itself.
This storm by the way uprooted my neighbors 25 foot tall palo verde tree and dumped it across their driveway.  The trunk diameter was close to a foot in diameter!

Anyway, a trip to the local sporting goods store and $80 worth of cash bought me a brand new dining canopy which I put up today.  If it lasts as well as the last one, I'm a happy camper.

I'm sure my motorcycle is happy now. :)

Jim - Have you considered adding a tarp around 3 sides (or 2 sides if it is right against your house)?  Just a thought.  :)

Yes, I've thought about enclosing the sides but it's so hot here, enclosing it would make the area next to the bike really hot and uncomfortable.

As long as the sunlight is kept off of the motorcycle, it shows very little evidence of its 3 year old age so this dining canopy works out very nicely.

Today ?
Wiped the carpark's dust off the seat.
Wished it wasn't rainy season.

Haven't been on here for a while so here's an update on previous "todays" that I've missed.

Done :
- Front registration plate
- Replaced the indicators
- Bar end mirrors
- saddlebags (VERY happy with those)
- rear mudflap
- replace tail-light unit
- some stickers so people know that I'm aussie
- wire headlight cover (failed, headlight visor made it unfittable)

Now, if it would just stop raining.....
