I paid 4500 US Dollars for a brand new 2011 military about 2,5 years ago and was offered today 7500 US dollars in cash. I refused without any hesitation.

Given the reputation of the low fuel sensor, fuel situation comes last on the evaluation list.  ;)

Who needs fuel sensors?
If your hurting to judge the fuel by gazing into the tank, make a dipstick :p

I installed a 7" headlight and little black bullet turn signals, "trafficators" on the front. Got to figure out rear mounts for the sigs. I'll test the headlight after dark.

During my morning commute along the Freeway a concerned Hyundai driver decided she didn't like my brake pedal, so decided to do something about it and sidswipe me.
Two broken toes, a bruised hip, but I remained upright! All Hail to the freight train that is the RE C5.
As you can see, the pedal has been shoved nicely, bending at the frame.
Will be off the road for a little while.
Could've been much worse so I'm thankful.
At least the driver was nice enough to stop and mention the obligatory "Sorry i didn't see you"

No - I probably have more in it than 7500.

Wow, pretty amazing story. How fast were you moving?  Is the bike repairable?  It looks like serious damage to the weldment for the pivot point of the brake lever.

Good you stayed upright, guess the cage held you up?
If not for the welding point, it would've been a straightforward replacement. Quite remarkable damage all the same.
Hope you heal up well enough, especially the bruising can take some time.

Please confirm you destroyed at least half of the cage.  ;D

Was she texting or otherwise distracted?

I was travelling about 60kmh in the right wheel track of the left lane, she was in the right lane and heavy traffic around. I saw her shift a little so thought "ugh, here she goes" sped up quickly to anticipate her veering over.
Didn't quite get past and she shunted in, and gave me a decent nudge. Brake pedal went awol and the air filter box flew open. Wobbled a little but corrected quickly and pulled into the emergency lane.
The bent brake pivot ended up about 1mm from the bottom of the chain which was lucky as it allowed me to plod on home.
Don't think she was texting, but just didn't look before attempting to change lanes. usual story..blah blah.
The bike is fully insured to an agreed value so I'm not too phased. She's a young barista and I'm not convinced she's insured herself. If I wasn't married I'd have pulled the 'let's work something out' line ;)
Will hopefully hear from the Enfield mechanic today about likely repair options and cost.

** Just updated. Looks like they have to replace the entire frame which, with any normal bike would be a write-off. But because parts for the Enfields are so cheap it'll likely be covered.
For a moment I considered the write-off option and thought of jumping on the Continental.

Went for a day long ride through the mountains, totalled 400kms and the only issue was a tired rider!
Met plenty of fellow riders and everywhere I stopped I had groups of people asking questions, ended up climbing only around 2000ft, engine lost a little bit of grunt but alls well.
Discovered many amazing roads near my home which will require a revisit ;)
