OH!  I also cleaned the air filter today as it was pretty nasty with oil residue and dirt.  I just sloshed it around in my bucket of Paint Gun Wash Solvent and blew it out with my blow gun then let it sit in the sun for about 30 minutes.  Worked like a champ!

And I'm pretty sure that the extra vibrations I am noticing is actually my knobby tires rolling down the road.  It dawned on me as I was transitioning from rain grooved pavement to blacktop and it smoothed out a bit.  When I parked the bike I slowly rolled it back and forth and sure enough it is a little lumpy from knob to knob.  No biggie, at least now I know what it is.  I didn't notice it last year because with the 18 tooth front sprocket I couldn't hold fast speeds long enough to ever notice how noisy the tires actually are.  :)

Read some Byron to my bike today for a while as we sat under the olive trees, staring lovingly into each other's eyes.

Great. I'm in Hemingway. Only few pages today.

Read some Ken Kesey & some Vonnegut, Jr. to mine today.

I want to reread, in order, all the Vonnegut & Larry McMurtry I can get a hold of before I die. And Cormac McCarthy.

Took her out for good shake down ride through the hilly roads behind my house, she ran fine, plenty of popping so when I got home a good tune of the carb was in order! Great idle and no popping, also gave her a quick polish, Autosoul is magical!

Rode my bike 38 miles to the race track, raced the hell out of it and took 2nd Place in The Main Event, and then rode it back home with a storm on my tail.  :D  You know, I have to say, with my new tune and gearing, it is REALLY nice being able to maintain 75-80mph and actually be the one passing cars on a 75mph posted freeway.   ;D  It was also kind of funny pulling off of the track after the Main Event, I went to shift into 1st and my transmission was acting like crap and my clutch cable wasn't working.  I started freaking out hing that I broke my bike racing it!   :o  Nope, the clutch cable adjuster had just worked itself loose from the rough track and I actually only had about half a pull of cable.  REadjusted it and all was well.  :)

Details on the racing here:

I don't think I mentioned it but I accidentally dropped my taillight lenses when I got home last night trying to replace my taillight bulb.  And being that is was a glass lenses it shattered all over the garage floor.  So I made a new lenses out of an acrylic jar lid today.  The diameter was a little smaller but that wasn't an issue, the problem was that the lid was flat and didn't seat around the bulb.  So I used my heat gun to soften the lid and then used a light bulb to dish the lenses and then cooled it off with compressed air to harden it back up.  I then wet sanded it and used purple anodized spray paint to coat the lense.  I think it came out pretty damn good for free.  ;)

The lens looks great, but don't think it might melt out?
Congrats on the race. Better than I did on my last Norton P-11 Dinosaur race at Ascot back in the '80s. The oil tank split open and dumped oil all over the rear tire. The bike didn't go well after that! I was all over the place!

Thanks Guys!

The lens should be fine, I had to put my heat gun on the high setting and it took a couple of minutes before I could form it.  That little 1157 bulb will never get that hot.

And that sounds like quite the sketchy ride bare!
