I always hard wire these Battery Tender connections directly to my motorcycle batteries.  I will be installing the one for my new RE Military C5 this afternoon.

Getting the return springs off and on is a total PITA!

Another drum brake hint--To get the springs off and on easily, just rotate the shoes up to a vertical position and lift the shoes and springs out as a unit. Put them back in by reassembling the springs to the shoes outside the drum, slip them back down over the pin and cam vertically and rotate the shoes back into the drum.
Don't forget a dab of grease on the cam and pin!

 +1 and ditto.

I routed mine to put the connecter inside the left hand tool box.

Beside keeping the connector secure and protected, the tool box lid being open is a visual reminder for folks like me to disconnect the battery tender before take off.  :o

Nice idea; I like it!
After considering my options, I think I'll zip tie mine under my solo seat and leave the free end accessible for a female cigarette lighter connection.  At some point, I will probably want/need to recharge my cell phone, GPS, etc.

You can get lighter sockets and USB charger attachments, GPS chargers or just plain plugs to put on other things 12v for accessories.
I put a 4 fuse block in my left tool box and ran the charger attachment through a 5 amp fuse.

Tentatively diagnosed a rattle as a broken retaining clip on the heat shield.  I can't be positive though as I have not taken it apart yet, and don't really want to as the screws have yet to loosen up on me @~1900 miles.  maybe tomorrow.

Went out to a little 1/4 mile long road with nothing on it and practiced my drag race launching.  1st attempt I missed 3rd gear.  But my 2nd launch was solid and I ran it all the way thru 3rd gear at about 70mph!  It felt real good, can't wait to line it up on the track Wednesday night!   ;D

Graylic - go for a spin!  Before your exhaust gets too hot, briefly put pressure on the forward skinny end of the shield with your boot.  You'll feel it and hear the difference in the noise if that clip is broken...

Adress that issue forthwith as the shield may start to crack.
See my reply in the thread "Chrome outer cover of stock EFI silencer" of august 25. There's some pictures too of the problem.
Save that shield!  ;D

1. I went out for a ride to test the "Laminar Lip" attached to my new windshield, to see if it reduced/redirected the amount of wind from my neck area to over my helmet after making some adjustments.

I'm pleased with the results, but I still plan on perfecting the arrangement by adjusting the overall windshield's angle.

2. I opened the headlight and removed the jumper wires as described in this video...

Replaced the kicker return spring.

New on the right and old on the left.
Broken piece set in position. Note difference of bends between old spring and replacement.
