If the megaphone is too loud you can always pull out the baffle and wrap in fiberglass muffler packing and attach it with some bailing wire.  Basically same process as repacking a 2 stroke muffler.

There are many options for aftermarket brake light flashers/modulators that I like.  In order not to detract from my RE's stock OD green military look, I installed this "Back Off" unit which I hid within the brake light housing.  Nothing fancy; all it does is cause the stock brake light to flash 4 times followed by a long flash and repeat as long as the front and/or rear brake is activated.

I also readjusted my shift lever to a lower position because I raised it too much a couple of days ago.

Adjusted the tappets.  Also found two of the rocker nuts loose.  Runs well and is quiet.  Not tight quiet, but nice quiet.

Put on the license plate, bought and installed the chrome luggage rack, switched to a NKG plug as the bike was having random intermittent hard starting, and ordered a pair of shinko 705 dual sport tires as the speedmasters give me the heebie-jeebies in the corners.

No start.  She ran fine yesterday, I think.  Break down and use ES and still no start.  Checked for spark.  Checked for fuel flow.  Checked for gas on the plug and it was dry.  Cleaned the jets.  Got it together and no start.  Checked the pushrods.  Intake is stuck up and adjuster is screwed all the way up.  Pulled the rocker cover and the intake rod jumped off and got stuck between the rocker and the head.
Funny thing is the jam nut is tight, but the adjuster had screwed itself up into the rod shortening the setup.  Made adjustments and she cranked right over, very quiet.  I'll pull the tappet cover and check every couple hundred miles now.  Maybe double locknuts or a lockwasher if I find it shortening again.

I haven't ridden on K70s but I can scrape the foot pegs with the 705s and never lose any traction.

Today, I replaced my 30-day temporary tag with the permanent metal tag (to be renewed in 2 years).

Tomorrow, I plan to replace my OEM horn with a WOLO Bad Boy horn.  Although I probably didn't need it, I also purchased a horn wiring harness that includes an in-line fuse and the proper relay.

Please let us know if the Wolo horn is all that.  I'm contemplating doing something about the anemic beep.

A lot accomplished today Re wise. Found another aluminum can to cover my muffler/header connection. ..on way home from job saw a shop that made me salivate. An old British bike store with second hand parts a block big. Did a u turn on busy ass road to look. Shocks, RE bits, wheels, tyres, mufflers, heads, pistons everything. It's a bloody warehouse full of bits. I scored a couple of metzler tyres, second hand but in great condition for 130 for the pair. Whacked me on back of bike and headed home chuffed. Before getting home went to a muffler place and we sussed out my muffler connection problem. The 2 connections were same diameter. I nicked a flag holder from a real estate sign that they use at auctions. The house sold and the agent just had the sign up. He's an ass anyway and I need that exact diameter pipe. Nice tight virginal fit into the muffler. Welded other end onto header. Clamp to be purchased tomorrow. No more gaps. Exhaust tape to follow to cover the ugly weld mark, but I'm stoked.

I always replace my stock "meep....meep" bike horns with aftermarket airhorns -- either Steibel Nautilus or Wolo.  Their sounds are almost identical and offer a significant improvement over OEM.  I personally consider this replacement a real necessity -- not an option.
I bought my Wolo horn and universal horn wiring kit for less than $60 from Amazon.
