Well, finally took my bike out for a run...100 miles in and around town to break it in. I completed my ML class and just got the bike titled and registered. so this was my first ride on the bike...what a joy. my rear is a bit sore though. Had to keep it under 40mph all day, just trying to get a good feel for the bike. I did some slow speed parking lot work as well trying to hone my slow speed skills. I was surprised that when I finally stopped, the bike was ooozing some silver/gray grease out of the case? anyone have any idea what this is?

Depends where exactly its coming from. If it is the right rear area around the countershaft sprocket it is more than likely chain lube. It seems the chain oil collects there and drips.

Jack,
Thanks for the quick response. it is coming from the sprocket side of the case...it appears to be two separate leaks, but im not sure. one, looks just like oil. light tan with oily feel. The second is a heavy silver/gray grease?

Well  kc, if it were me Id put the bike on the sidestand and lay down next to it and take a peek under the bike. You have to find exactly where its coming from before you can take a plan of action. The oil could be a seal or a gasket leak. If its grease, Id say its just the chain slinging off the chain lube. Time to get down and get dirty !

Took my endangered G5 on a 200 mile jaunt up to Newcombs Ranch on Angeles Crest Highway and back. Blue sky's, clean air and a killer lunch. Bike ran like a champ , handled excellent in the corners and was just a joy to ride. Now, got to get it ready for Sunday's BSA Club ride ! Gotta keep riding !

Not likely.  In India you can stil find plenty of 50's Enfields running just fine.  These things live longer than redwoods.

Gassing up today and another customer stepped over and said, "I love it when guys ride bikes older than they are."  I didn't have the heart to tell him ;)

I got an email from Dave Quinn today; my Hagons are finally shipped here from the UK and on their way to my house...  Well, my housekeeper's house, actually. But anyway...

Whee, &c.

Did a drag race with my daughter and lost.
Did it again, lost again.
Then I cheated and won with the smallest margin.
Got to race again, clean. And lost.
Gave up.
She has a Honda SH300i.
A motoscooter, I lost from a motoscooter, FCOL.  :'(

Any suggestions?

Don't drag race scooters. They may embarrass you!

+1
Most scooters have a power-to-weight ratio an Enfield can only dream of.
