Finished putting my 95' back together today..

Put gas in the tank taken from my 99' parts bike.

Waited 10 seconds, pulled the decomp lever and kicked her through about 20 times to move some oil around since I just changed the head out.

Turned on the petcock and waited 10 seconds..  Positioned the piston using the decomp since the bike now has compression with the head off my 99..

Kicked her and......   nothing..    again ....   nothing....   again... nothing...

Aggravated I came inside and started to browse the forum and saw the recent thread about replacing the plug..      Thanks guys.

Went out to the bike and pulled the plug,  a Champion?? ,, Oh that came on the parts bike, and it stinks of gas..   Put in a new NKG plug...

Positioned the piston and kicked her....  put................put.................................put....thump ... thump...thump....

Like a metronome, I mean man, that goldie exhaust sounds sweet even at idle...

As I sat and listened to her idle the wife came out of the house.." Ok. let go out for tacos."

I look at the bike,  no pillion on it and the wife is wearing shorts,  guess we will be taking the car..

I walk over, turn off the gas and the ignition... Oh well,  I guess I will have to see if the clutch and RH shift setup is correct in the morning... Might just get up an hour  early so I can give her a run.

no he chose wife over Enfield...   On this forum we may pretend that the bike comes first, but we know who butters our bread... or perhaps he just likes tacos a whole lot!!!

And those of us with wives probably are aware that fixing a cranky bike is often easier than fixing a cranky wife!

That spark plug was probably the reason it was a parts bike ;D

Congrats!
Nothing like the sound of a good running Bullet with a nice exhaust system.

Tacos are good too!

As to the plug,, I just grabbed on out of the pile when I put the thing back together,  just happened to be a the Champion that came with the bike,  the plug was pretty clean.

I was a bit worried about the head, when I pulled it off the 99 there was a crescent valve mark on top of the piston.  It was nice and shiny..    I am thinking the salvage guy tried to get the bike running, and not being familiar with REs he miss adjusted the intake push rod and it caused the interference..  Coupled with being KS only and if he tried to kick it over a bunch of times he might have fuel fouled the plug with no hope of getting the bike started.
I never intended to get it running and the bike with the 99s head made it to work this morning without a hitch, so all seems good.
