I measure my acceleration in minutes not seconds
"....a radar-measured 79-mph top speed, a 10.0-second 0-60 time and a 17.65-second run in the quarter-mile. I am into the rhythm of 19 rear-wheel horsepower and 25 foot-pounds of torque."http://www.cycleworld.com/article.asp?section_id=3&article_id=1752&page_number=2The acceleration feels descent off the line, could be better though! Upper end acceleration is where it needs the most improvement.
So Chris-G5 gets descent acceleration off the line? If pointing the right way on a hill that's understandable, but it would be ascent acceleration facing the other way! That could be indecently slow!
Interesting article. Liked it. The top speed 79 mph, I have seen on my RE. But can't say the same for 10 second 0-60 mph. Either I or my RE is slow at acceleration. Have you or anyone else tried that ?
Timed on a video with time-bar in seconds, on several acceleration runs to 70mph.Not real accurate, but ballpark.Chumma's bike.Model/Year.......Iron Bullet Military 2006Engine Mod.......Ace Fireball 535Gearing.............19 tooth sprocket0-70mph........... Around 7-7.5 secondsTop speed.........101mph on gps, unfaired military with panniers and Lycette pillion seat, rider tucked.
Ok I redid my test. AVL 2008 Classic FramePiston .020 over Forged from CMWExhaust Restricter in header pipe out. Muffler 60s BSA Reducer from 2" header to 1.5" muffler.0-50 mph 8.5 seconds timed on Motogadget speedo very accurate 0-60 mph 13 sec
Sing, you've got me going. Just like a kid again, now I'm into dragging my Enfield.I went up one on my main jet cause after yesterday it looked a little whitish. But the results are better. I wouldn't have thought it because it sure felt better running lean, however, here is the new readings:0 -50 mph 7.8 sec0 -60 mph 12.5
My speedometer reads the same as my brother's HD Electra Glide which has an electronic speedometer. I guess it could be off too.
Don't know the acceleration times, got no way to tell, but plenty of very satisfying torque.
