On Saturday 12th July in Redditch (which was where the original Royal Enfield Factory used to be, of course) there was the Royal Enfield Big Day Out.  The aim was to gather together 1,000 Royal Enfields, all in one place.  I'm not sure if they achieved this as they haven't announced the score yet, but they must have come close.

Here's yours truly with a gorgeous 80-year-old lady who "came home" for the day.

Cool, thanks Tom!

If you find postings of pictures from the event, please share with us.

Can you tell us about your Enfield?

Matt

:o WOW!  That is a gorgeous old lady... and it sounds like a great rally.

1000 Enfields in one place! I can't even imagine what that must look and sound like!
What wouldn't you not do if you didn't know you wouldn't fail?

Tom,

Can I post your photo to our "Shows and Events" gallery?

Hi Rhett - yes, my brother-in-law took the photo and he says it's OK for you to use it.

But I want to clarify - the bike is not mine!  It belongs to one of the two gentlemen standing in the background.  I just asked them if I could have my photo taken with it. It's a 225 cc Royal Enfield of about 1922 vintage.

Dave, it's lurid I know, but for many years that was the standard colour scheme!

Here's a 1929 2.25 horsepower model.

Beautiful machine - I wish I had been there, but Indiana is a long long way from Redditch. ( I went to sleep on a roundabout, in that town, in the 70's and got the worst sunburn of my life.. )
