I've had front brake shoes on back order for over a month now.  If I took the old shoes to a local brake shop would they be able to put on new linings or would they just stare at me like I had just dropped in from outer space?

We have places like Brake and Clutch Supply etc that can reline about any kind of brake shoe or clutch plates. They only problem might be getting the brake material the correct thickness.
