Welcome to the family and good on ya!

Now the true test (according to some) will be if you can bring her into the living room & get away with it!  :D

I kind of mentioned that last night, in a smiling - joking sort of way, just to test the reaction.  Well, it wasn't pretty.  Not a humorous subject at all.  Clearly the house is hers, the garage and half the basement are mine, and pitty the fool who crosses that line.

All I could come back with was, "Ok then, don't you come out to my garage and try to clean anything."  So there!

Congratulations, Fred. If you're a neophyte, that makes me an unborn. This will be my first bike and I just made first contact with my local dealer (a friendly chap named Mike at UK Motorsports on Long Island). While I still want to keep an open mind, I'm hoping to walk in to his shop and see a leftover SIXTY-5 sitting there. Just a gorgeous motorcycle. Well here's wishing you many happy hours riding, and many happy hours tinkering. ;D

Hey Chuck,

I was just the opposite.  I was hoping to see either a black or green Classic I could fall in love with.  Instead, I saw this '65' thing that I didn't even know what it was.  (Terrible grammer, but I think you get the meaning)

The more I stared at it, the more it just looked right without the pinstripe trim.  And red was never my color, but I really like this one.  So does my wife.

If you want a 65, I sure hope you find one at the dealers place.  Even if he doesn't have a 65, I'm fairly sure that even if you keep a sharp, analytical and dispassionate attitude about you when you go to the shop, you'll find something to fall in love with.

Good luck to you on your search.

Hey Fred, I just saw Kevin's post about AVL classics becoming available like, real soon. I think I could live with one of those ;) My head is spinning. Oy.

Chuck, I think the idea of a Classic styled bike with the new engine is great.  I was going to wait for one of those.  I think they will be just the ticket for a lot of riders.

My problem was that when I looked at the 65 and the Electra, the 65 exactly fit the mold of what my brain thought a motorcycle should look like.  I'm sure my next RE will be the new engine Classic.  You  know, after I wear the 65 out.   :)

Fred, I'm visiting the dealer tomorrow (Saturday). Just to make friends and maybe fondle a clutch lever or two, mind you: the checkbook stays home (for now). How about getting some pictures up?

Take the checkbook with ya, what you see tomorrow might not be there on Monday.

65's are great and that magic Black has to be a really cool color.

Thanks Fred, it is. Deep, deep green, with quiet metallic sparkle. Needs bright sunshine or as in the showroom, spot lighting. I agree about the pinstriping. Don't need it. Less is more. As to all the chromed and polished doodads, think Grace Kelly in a spiked dog collar. Absurd. Simple exhaust upgrade (that seems to be the general consensus) and call it a day.
