My used 2004 bullet came with the blank aftermarket fender license plate.  I know that you can purchase the stickers that have Royal Enfield, Bullet 500, etc, but I want to go the custom route for my bike.  I have been trolling the internets and can't seem to find any historical numbering systems for motorcycles in England or the U.S.  I'd like to do something more authentic, but also have a few "out of the box" ideas.  I've seen some of you with custom plates...where did the ideas come from?  And where did you get the decals from?

Ta,

-Marc

I can give you the run down on UK plates , and there meanings (location of first registration)

plates started as 1 a , going to 999 a , then 1 b to 999 b , this carried on , we do not use I O Q or Z

at 999 y , they then went 1 ab ,,,

on and on till we had got to 999 yyy

then they reversed them and started again

after 2001 they came out with a new system

i will find you a link later

an average 1950 s bullet would have sumething like 951 PYK (example)

note that ft numberplates were banned in the UK in the early 80,s , older bikes however can keep there plate,

they were commonly known as pedestrian slicers

well when 1 a was issued , there was only one car on the road , remember shortly after this we had a 6 mph speed limit , with a bloke with a red flag , untill he got run over ,,,,

This was on my CJ750, I got the stickers at a hardware store.  I'm sure you can come up with something that will make you grin.

un , that bantam was "not normal" , in 54 they had a 125cc engine with a 3 speed box , later ones were 150 and 175 , and finally a 4 speed box

that one is a 175 with a suzuki ts185 piston and a modded/ported barrel (2 stroke) with a c/ratio racing 4 speed box

it went ok ! as quick if not faster than a std bullet 500.

after the was (WW2) the brits won the rights to the little engine , you also got it as a harley humber ,,,,,the japs got hold of it ,, the first ever yamaha ..

did we win the war?

When I was a kid I had a '52 Harley Hummer, it was in pretty sad shape. I never got it to run right and traded it for a Honda trail 90. :-\

When I was a kid my buddy had a weird french or maybe Italian four stroke trail bike bike ( not sure as it never had a VIN plate, not even rivet holes to fix one )

It was hard to start and tons of fun but a tank compared to the Honda SL's and Yamaha DT's of the day.

Seemed a previous owner had gotten creative with it and slapped some Indian stickers on the petrol tank.

Our neighborhood small engine guru and motorcycle expert pronounced that  it wasn't a real Indian because  "they went bust in the in the late 1940's and only made vee twins that were twice as powerful and three times faster than any Harley-Davidson ever made and rode better than a Cadillac too."

If I'd only known then what I know now.
No matter where you go, there, you are.

Ahhh...that's an Avro Vulcan in the background.  Although from it's condition I'd stay away from that jet, the scary rides at Blackpool, and stick with that sweet Bantam there.

Mine is nothing fancy, just the license plate number applied to the front plate. Here's a picture of it...

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x188/JJack521/IMG_4854.jpg

Here are the decals...

http://www.misterart.com/display-presentation/accessories/headline-white-vinyl-stick-on-letters-or-numbers.html

The style is 2 inch Helvetica. Click on the little camera icon next to it, it'll tell you how many of each number and letter is included, so you can figure out if you need more than one pack.

I must retreat to my place of Zen and meditate on this.
