What a find.  Pulling a paragraph out, and including the link below.

"The owner of Motoshop Podevyn in Aalst, Belgium passed away and the contents of the shop are going up for auction. It turns out it's quite a collection, among the discoveries are 11 1975 Nortons, brand new, unassembled, still in their original crates, that's about as original and unmolested as you can get."

First year (I believe) with electric start. Also, left side shift.

That is correct. Also first year for rear disc, I believe.

Actually 6900 Euro converts to about $9,200. If they were on this side of the pond, I'd snap one up. My wife's wrath be damned. 8)

Right you are,Chuck. A great machine to transition to from the Jap bikes of the same era.

But,at this late stage of the game, they're worth more in da crate, than out.....

Those bikes will be gobbled up by collectors, left in the crate and used as coffee tables at Jay Leno's place. :( :( :(
I like Nortons, never had one. Just like the name. NORTON ;)

As good looking as the early Ducati V twins. The canted barrels and kicked up silencers on the Norton are just right.

Like Sam says, take one out of the crate and you've just thrown 5K away.

I would make for a terrible collector.  I'd put that thing together and ride the shit out of it.

An update: According to the new issue of Classic Bike, all 11 Commandos were auctioned off, (no surprise), going for between 14,150 and 15,500 GBP or $21,225 to $23,250 at current exchange rates. "After so long in storage, will need attention before they can be run. Tyres, batteries, oil seals and probably some internal parts will be useless" Be interesting to see if any actually come out of the crate. What's worht more? Still in the crate, or restored new?

One original space-frame John Player Special 750 Team Formula original; went for 100,000 GBP or $150,000 - and it needs restoration. :P
