Thanks for the kudo, Blackwolf! You are correct - I have probably imported more CJ's into the USA than anyone - and unless you are dealing with the BEST build shop in Beijing, you are going to be disappointed. Pretty paint doesn't make one of these bikes run well - a fellow whose father worked in the original Government Factory can, though. If anyone has any questions on these bike, email me off the forum and I'll tell you the STRAIGHT poop on 'em.

BTW - I hate the word "replica" - it makes the bike sound like a cheap (Nanchang?) copy of something. I prefer the term "continuation" because like our beloved Royal Enfields - the production has simply never stopped. I digress ....  ;)

I had one all done up in white that I decorated with all the "ScooterBob" stuff and used it for a shop truck. It was pretty neat as long as you weren't in a hurry - but by golly, you could PILE the crap in the sidecar - heeheehee!!

My M1 CJ solo had a high geared final drive and I dropped the tall fourth gear  in the tranny, it would roll along pretty good, didn't stop worth a damn though :D

Uncle Ernie, now that is a horse of a different color. Very nice.

I don't see how the CJ750 isn't a replica. Isn't it a replica of a Russian BMW replica? They may have been making them forever, but did they license the bike from BMW? That doesn't mean it isn't cool in its own rights...

Anyway if spam is ok, I am starting a pharmaceutical distribution company specializing in enhancing drugs. I will post pictures later.

Sintered iron brake shoes ...... that'll haul one RIGHT down. The solo that I did that to would go a frightening 120km/hr or a little better ..... it was guh-huh-huh-huh-hutless in the hills of WV though .....

After the fall of Berlin, when Ike and Monty were slapping each other on the back for what a good job they'd done, Josef's boys drew a line in the sand and said "We'll take East Berlin - Thanks!" Within the boundaries of the Russian stake was the practically intact BMW factory. Since the Russians had bought the patents and licenses from BMW in a secret meeting in Switzerland in 1938 to make a motorcycle, they didn't need the factory. They took it their Eastern Front ...... China ...... and gave it, lock, stock and barrel to the Chinese Gub'Mint so they could get off of horseback, too. The motorcycle was easy to produce and was as rugged as the Chinese outback, so nothing was changed on it very much over the years. It went directly from Berlin to Nanchang - and most of the tooling and dies and what not were the original BMW stuff back then (some would say they are STILL using some of it! Haha!) THAT'S why I like to refer to them as "continuations" .... you know - like Enfields being made in India? Same thing mostly - only with a little different arrangement in the beginning .....  ::)

Yeah mine was gutless here in the Ozarks, I finally put the stock fourth gear back in the box,  I also put on a Ural deep sump and a higher volume oil pump with some "modern" three ring pistons, it would cruise at 55-60 just fine after that. Man that Lanxaing was a smooth running little motor, God I love flatheads.

The flattie is the WAY to go on that bike ..... they are "electric motor" smooth when they are right .... and they are built from PIG IRON, so with a little care and attention, they'll run for-freekin' EVER ..... the old Duh-Nyepper flattie has gone 40K klicks with nary a hitch ... and they are nearly identical.

Yep, I rode that solo everywhere for over two years, NEVER had a problem out of it. One neat trick was some thick Kevlar gaskets between the carb and head, no more boiling carbs!

It's funny that this poped up. I had the $$ for a "continuation" CJ750  early last year and got the Enfield instead. Biggest draw for the CJ was it's a flathead with a sidecar. Room for junk in the trunk and flatheads run forever! That's why I gotta finish rebuilding my wifes Harley WLA. Biggest reason I went RE was it was on sale at the dealershop in FL.
Hey Bob, want a project WLA for your CJ750?  ;)

Got some pix of that WLA?? I had one a coons age ago and really enjoyed the plodding heep ..... It ran good, wasn't too persnickety and was pretty darn comfortable to ride with it's stock saddle and what-not .... you know - like a CJ - but with the motor wadded up and turned wrong! Heeheehee!!  ;)

The "Man Upstairs" is smarter than to have the rear cylinder sucking hot air from the front one! - I guess mistakes can be made .... I consider the Square Four Ariel - a BRILLIANT design - light, well balanced, powerful - until you lean on the throttle ..... then the rear two cylinders detonate and overheat ..... If only BMW (and ComBloc derivatives) would have the shifter on the RIGHT side ..... There would be perfection for a twin. Of course the Royal Enfield does away with all those pesky "extra" parts and all .... You only need ONE cylinder to get you there in STYLE!  ::)
