  • And on the eighth day, God said...."Let's Ride."
on: April 06, 2010, 02:52:28 pm
I made a post on my zuki forum recently and read back over it. I referred to my bullet as a 'who'. I ain't hardly no english major, but I think 'who' refers to people and 'what' to things. hmmm.   :P

Well mine is a girl and she's stubborn like one too.  Named her Luna... but I should've named her Christine.  She and I were hanging out at the bike shop the other day when one of the guys started talking smack about her and then was rewarded with instant karma by tripping over a hose and falling on his ass.  My mechanic then cursed at her exhaust system and instantaneously snapped his pliers in half as soon as he touched her.

Don't talk smack to my bike, she understands English well.

If you are going to personify, ANY motorcycle has to be female. Just when you think you have everything all figured out, then just like your wife, she will prove you wrong. Even if you are right.

Ah,  but an RE is so simple,  if it was overly complex it would be more female to me,  one of those new BWMs for example, where it takes hours of work just to get to the bits underneath....    ;)..

You only need to start worrying when you refer to your RE by the name you you give it, and refer to your wife as just "my wife". Then you know you have issues. ;D

Quite frankly, my dear brother Phil, I absolutely meant that as a joke.  Graciela and I will, God willing, celebrate our 42nd anniversary in September!  In fact, my 2005 Hinckley Bonneville was named Dama Graciela (Lady Grace)!  Besides, I was never any good at the game of golf!  And, when I played beisbol as a kid in Cuba, I was so slow that I used to run into myself rounding third base!  I am very well coordinated and this makes me an Ace in the Saddle!  :D

My Bullet, mistakenly, believes it is named "Sumbitch".This is because I use this expletive quite a bit when attempting to work on it.I have been trying to come up with a man-name for it but every time I think I have something really cool figgered out,I see it on someone elses bike.Sumbitch.

Oh yes indeed my Bullet has a personality.

The moment of revelation for naming has not yet occurred though.

Weather we follow the nautical tradition of feminine or the equine tradition of masculine, feminine or nominative remains to be seen.
No matter where you go, there, you are.

My bike is a female..for sure.  Wifes bike I'm not to sure of.   Could be transgender..sometimes fires right up kick or electric.  Other times has to be a wee bit moody about things.  Kicked through compression stroke so easy one day I almost hurt myself bad giving her to much of a kick.  (Actually did over extend and tear a muscle/tendon from it).  Maybe I should call her bike Red Bull.

That sounds perfect..hey Cabo what's the translation for that please.

Me too Scotty. I don't name inanimate objects. If I were to do so, I'd have to agree with Ice about the equine naming. Actually by saddle bags are really 'saddle' bags. Us calvary styled made of saddle leather. That being said I wouldn't want to call the 'RE' Trigger.  ;)

I haven't named my bullet either. I need to wait until the engine re-work is complete and see what character she takes on. I named my metric l'il blackie from the girl's horse in true grit. it was a small framed horse and, in the end, carried a big fat white guy

Now we just have to come up with a really cool grand prize..maybe we could get factory sponsorship.

Actually the best name that fit the bike I owned was the Wicked Witch of The North.  A black Kawasaki H1 that was pretty and evil at the same time.  Then there was the Old Grey Mule.  A Honda CM400 with full luggage set that was a real work horse.  Rode that one from Kentucky to Colorado..but man did see look like an Old Mule.

That's not unusual. Until I was 7, I thought my name was Dammit. That's all I heard from my dad. What did I just say Dammit! Don't touch that Dammit!

I once had a black BMW that I named "Peerless" after Bill Hickok's horse. It really was a horizon hungry bike and I covered a lot of ground on it. That's where my user name of r80rt came from :)
