  • "I've got a bad feeling about this..."
Now that I have an Enfield I find that my excitement at the arrival of riding season is tempered with a bit of trepidation... if not downright fear. I wonder what will break and where I'll be stranded this year. Out here in the west there's a good chance my bones will be dry and bleached by the sun before I'm found. I would probably feel a bit more secure if I rebored to fix the piston slap and replaced that loose valve guide. I guess a part of me enjoys the  thrill of seeing how long I can cruise at 70mph without losing my nerve.

Well,,  let we tell ya..   Just got my 07 back on the road and took it to the gas station to fill her up.  Sure enough there was some kinda crap in the line and the needle valve stuck open..  Gas everyplace and I had taken the tool kit off the bike (why?).   So 30 minutes later the wife shows up with a screwdriver and pliers and in no time my needle valve is cleaned out and I am back in action..  Its all part of the fun..

I guess the lesson is always carry a cell phone and a good tool kit and you'll be fine...

Got 10 miles in.. All pretty much 25mph and under, I would say it sucked but it really didn't...  Also, during the 30 minutes at the gas station someone stopped to take pictures of my bike..   ;D

I was able to get in about 20+ miles yesterday on my '08 AVL.  Hit 3200 miles total and I always thought it a bunch of bull when folks told me the engine would get better after a good break in but I admit it does seem to be coming in to its own.  No crotch rocket but then I never expected it to be.  So maintain and check (I guess that's part of maintenance) and much of the problems seem to disappear.

Good riding.

Put another 42 miles on mine today, sunny and low 50's in Denver. A single HD rider may wave back, a group just ignores a RE rider. :P Think I need a leather jacket and half helmet. Saw a nice Norton too.
I still think I'm enjoying it more than the HD riders though!.

Last weekend we had a blizzard that shut everything down. This weekend there's no snow to be seen and temps approached 60f. I'm thinking next weekend I get the Bullet out of winter storage.

Saw two guys on vintage BMWs and a group of 10 H-Ds yesterday,  and a Triumph Speed Triple and some distorted, giant-engined Honda cruiser today.

50 miles a day rain or shine as long as the roads aren't frosted.

In this weather any one who rides waves or waves back around here.
( frequent dampness, fog,rain, + 40 F. )
No matter where you go, there, you are.

Got about 30 miles in on the 95 today, temps in the 70s,  10 miles on the 07 doing break in..     Took a ride over to the theater and watched "Alice in Wonderland" in 3D.  Very cool.    Gonna be out of town till next weekend for work.. No motorbikes for me this week...  >:(

What a winter, we had frost in March..  WTH...

Harley riders can't wave, it voids their warranty.

My son and I were out yesterday and today on ours, and with the classic exhaust we both have, no Harley is gonna drown out the Bullets! Especially when we take off side by side  and wind them up going through the gears...  ;D

Funny that guys who seem to wave the most are the guys who spent the least on their bikes.

Sometimes I feel sorry for Harley Riders.. With so many Harley lookalikes they sometimes catch themselves waving at a KawaYamaHondaHarleys... ;D

But they still wave back more than MOST Beemer riders.  But the friedliest riders are Goldwingers.  Heck they even wave at motor scooter/mopeders.

Oh yes, Spring is in the air, and the Harleys are disturbing the peace.  If you ever want to get into an argument with the Harley boys just point out the fact that when two of them are stopped idling at a light that together they both sound like an old air cooled Volkswagen.

Still a bit cold and damp here. We have had the wettest winter that I can remember.  I do have it on good authority that the sun will shine again. (soon I hope.)

Usually the ones on the crotch rockets never wave at me.  One time a girl on a little Ninja rode past me and then slowed down to wave furiously at me though.  ;D  but then another time I pulled up next to a girl in a miniskirt on her pink plastic scooter.  She wouldn't even LOOK at me as I revved my engine at her.  :P  The nerve.

That reminds me of a look a Harley guy gave me as I was riding home after attending a friends wedding .
I was impeccably dressed , no helmet ( yeah , a no no), air force aviator shades, yeah, my best Steve McQueen( or Sean Connery) riding my a beautifully polished BR Green RE.....it was priceless to see his expression.
