Garbone - I think that would be a metric shat tonne!! Hahaha!! The bike is probably THE most popular in RE history. It has all the stuff that folks LOVE about a Royal Enfield - and none of the stuff that they tended to dislike (you can't hate a Royal Enfield ... you just can't!!) The new engine is gREat - and the styling on the C5 is hard to beat from any angle. A little ScooterBobbing makes them even BETTER, too - Hahaha!! I really have been smitten by the new bikes - despite not wanting to at all ...... I am a DIE HARD old Iron Barrel fan - but I believe a fellow could RIDE a UCE bike .... go figger! People are getting the idea that RE is serious about making a TRULY World Class motorcycle ....  and I think they are quite pleased as a whole!
Spare the pig iron - spoil the part!

I have an AVL model as well - I love the thing! It's everything that the Iron Barrel could be. Mine is a TERRIFIC good runner and quiet as a mouse. Being the sick, twisted individual that I am - I HAD to have an example of the Iron Barrel AND the AVL .... a UCE is probably next .... after I figger out all the tricks!! Hahahaha!!

Hahaha - No one is going to put YOU on a list to call for a few years .... I think the old AVL that I have may outlast ME!! It's wonderfully old school Enfield - but a lot better. I sure wish they'd have met emissions compliance here and in Europe ....... sigh ........ The bikes were enormously popular in India as well as Europe. Ah well - WE can enjoy OURS, eh?  ;)

Latest new is waiting period is now at 5 months.

And the situation is not likely to improve in the near future.

what is CARB ?
What is the waiting period in the US / UK ?
Whats the price in the US / UK and what kind of numbers are they doing each month.

I get a feeling that they are focusing more on the export market because
a. They earn foregin exchange
b. The know their indian customers are going no where. At least for some time i.e. till Bajaj figure out how to copy the Ninja 250 twin they are importing right now.

UK prices are here:

http://www.royal-enfield.com/prices.html

(The UK importers make quite a few of their own models out of the Electra and Classic.)

The waiting list for the Clubman is five months last I heard but that is because it is put together here and they build one a week. As far as I know there is no waiting list for the standard models. They are certainly to be seen in dealers showrooms. I have no idea of numbers - I would love to know!

Mr Pozer, I'm thinking Star Trek style conventions will be in order for old AVL owners and collectors some day.   I'm working on hanging a broken sprag on a ribbon- like an olympic medal- for awards.

Carb stands for California air resources board. They have very strict emissions standards. Prices in the US are $6000  to $6400 retail. no waiting yet.
