If you want to compares this to the other bikes made and sold in India
Here you go

100-11.51 UCE
Pulsar 220 12.5 Sec /
R15 12.5 Sec
 LB500 14.2 Sec
(eat my dust toy boys (This is my new Bumper sticker on the UCE )

So the reason why an Indian is buying the UCE has nothing to do with sound.
Or the bullet name.
We are buying it simplly because its the fastest bike made in the country.
vs the imports which come with absurd duty which prices them out of the reach of the avrage Indian.

Ron ji:

Mazaa aa Giyaa.

I really enjoyed this post about performance and Indian mentality of buying RE.  Well you are right that they buy because it has been and is the fastest Indian bike.  The name 'Bullet' does suggest a macho image for a bullet's ability to pierce objects and its fast speed.  RE imitated that and was unstoppable and climbed mountains up the hills and drove on the dirt roads of villages of Punjab. So it built its image and aura for us growing up there.

There is something else.  The sound,d of bullet "thak, thak" repeated faster and faster is what makes RE so dear to Punjabis.  I have very vivid memories, since I was about 3 or 4 years old, when my dad rode his 350 cc RE Bullet into our narrow street (coming back from his work in the evening), the whole street reverberated with its sound and everybody knew that he was back.  Kids loved that.  At heart we are kids, only the age numbers keep spinning.

In my own opinion, its the rhythm of single cylinder that has a physiologic hypnotic effect that calms our minds so we enjoy it more than a shrill counterpart that can go as fast or faster than this.

So long.  Hope you got the numbers I had sent you earlier in PM.

2009 Royal Enfield Black G5

Well put singh Ji.
Way better put than most other bullet owners put it in India.

We used to love walking up to bullet owners and ask them why do they ride arround on this pice of junk. And your typical answers are
a. Its a Royal Bike it makes you feel like a king.
b. It puts hair on your chest and makes you feel like a man.
c. With a Tiger Mud Flap you feel like a tiger.
etc etc.

It was never really a performance bike.
The Jawa 250 was faster, the first Jap bike made in India the RX100 was faster.
But as the two strokes have died out. Its the only option in the country right now.

I once did an experiment for collage.
i.e. hook up a guy to BP machine / Pulse rate monitor / sweat responce etc.
Then bring various bikes in front of them and blip the throtell.
They cant see the bike its behind a bed sheet.

With a RXG / RD with pipes. The heart rate and Blood Pressure goes thru the roof.
With the Bullet. The BP and the pulse actually drop.

Its a bit like making a babby to sleep.
If you pat it slowlly. It sleeps. If you pat it fast it wakes up.

moral of the story.
The Bullet is a sleepy lazy machine. / Long stroke.

Instead of Bhuda - Bhuda - Bhuda or chuga - chuga - chuga.

I want to turn that into a whoop - whoop - whoop when you blip the throttle.

Hi Chinoy,

I know that you understand that "whoop-whoop-whoop" like a high-rpm short stroke multi-cylinder engine ain't gonna happen on a Bullet.

There's only one cylinder, so there will be individual beats perceptible until the engine gets going pretty fast. Then it's going to sound more like a growl, but it can't rev up high enough to give that howling sound that a high-rpm multi-cylinder engine makes when it's "on the boil".
That sound requires a short stroke multi-cylinder engine. Or at least a multi-cylinder engine at pretty high rpms, anyway.

I think the Bullet *could* be made to sound more like a Gold Star or a Velocette Venom, and that's a very nice sound too. But it's different than the multi-cyl engines.
It's just a "different animal" and it will sound the way only a long-stroke single can.
And alot of us have come to really love that kind of sound.
And some of us have modified the Bullet to go pretty fast too.

I think that the answer will be found in a re-programmed ECU, or with a device like a Power Commander. That should really perk things up on a UCE bike.

Yeah Ace I get what your saying.
But its just a crazy dream. The world is short on people with crazy dreams.

The long stroke note kinda grows on you I guess.
If it doesnt well then a 54mm stroke Bullet is on the cards LOL.
Just kiding Bro.
