I saw an American bike programme the other day and this guy covered a bike petrol tank with fish net stockings and pained it.

It came out as snake skin, ok a bit of green --a bit of yellow , very impressive I thought.

Then there was this guy with a cut out piece of cardboard and a bit of yellow here and there to make fantastic flames.

As I have paint job coming up in my 1400Intruder I thought I might have go at this.

Any other effects you know of?

Tsk, tsk Clamp, teasing us us with a juicy subject title ;).  How about some kind of "tropical camo" using palm fronds as stencils?

Yes yes!    that the ones, you see how the diamond shapes would be larger where stretched and small in other places ---just like a snake, fantastic Idea.

I forgot to say after painting you take them off the tank,---no not with your teeth.

Come on man pull yourself together.

And thats another idea carper using some sort of leaf around the bottom of the tank sort of as a bed for the snake,  all good stuff so far.

I thought you were going to share tips on how not to rip your fishnet stockings while riding.  :-*

You can use all sorts of things to make patterns and textures with paint.  Ask the ladies down at your local Hobby Lobby for further advice.  :D I once painted a desk with coffee grinds, a sponge and some patience.  Made it look all rustic!

Years ago I used a lace curtin on the tank, toolbox and oil tank of my old BSA twin, looked a treat, was quite happy with myself until I got caught returning the curtin from where I had got it, seemed a good idea at the time  :-[

Cheers

I personally like the hmmer paint in a can.  Did an old Honda CB350 bobber that way, used the copper color.  Turned out very nice for about $15.  Will.

I remember that technique well. We called it lace painting. As I recall the lace was damp when you painted through it to prevent sticking.  Very retro. Can't quite visualize it on a Bullet.
I hardly ever wear my fishnets when riding. I save them for special occasions. ;D

Hey string vest---a sweaty string vest,--now there a manly thought.    I used to use a dead cat in  plastic bag for artexing    (do you know artexing you septics?) its like doing a pattern in plaster so you don't need wall paper.

An old leather strap wraped on a wooden stick, Oh there is all sorts of stuff.

Dupont came out with a folder in the late sixtys that showed Lacing, Scrolling,Cobwebbing and Shading that they sent out to body shops. All pretty easy stuff to do.  ERC
