A Kiwi inventor has delighted slothful beer drinkers with an armchair that can make the trip to the fridge.

Ryan Ogle is selling his "motorised drinking couch", a banged-up green armchair attached to the back half and motor of a 50cc scooter and a steering system sourced from a scrap metal yard.

"Bludy good fun and you never need worry about the long walk to get your next pie ever again," he says to promote it on the auction website Trade Me.
Ogle says the sofa, emblazoned with "Ryan's seat of liver failure", would suit "anyone who's after a good time".

The bizarre contraption may not be legal but the enthusiastic tinkerer doesn't seem to care.
With a "light person" on board it can reach 70km per hour and it handles his local Burger King drive-thru and his short drive to work with ease, the 26-year-old said.

Commuters are "pretty surprised" to see a moving armchair on the road, and some don't get the joke.
"Most people toot and wave, and the odd person yells and swears at you," he told the Waikato Times newspaper.

"The old people really don't like it."
He assures bidders that it's also useful indoors, travelling smoothly from lounge to kitchen "as long as your doorways are wide enough".

There's a fire extinguisher added "due to the fabric not meeting certifiable standards for road use" and Ogle says he'll even consider building in a stubbie holder.
Kiwis are clearly captivated by the auction, which is being tracked online by almost 1,000 people. The top bid is currently $NZ330 ($A262) with three days to run.

It's not a first for the inventor, who has also listed a ride-on mower with a turbo drag bike engine and is working on a weedeater with a two-stroke motor.

That's a real engineering challenge for sure, sort of like the bar stool racers you can get here in the states.  Will
