I got my Electra back Sat. morning, rode it from the dealership to home 48 miles without stopping until I got in my driveway. Then the nightmare started. It wouldn't cut off. Turned the key to the off position, it would act like it was shutting down, then it would act like it was trying to recrank itself. Wierd. Anyways, hitting the kill switch had no effect, it just wouldn't cut completely off.
I should have just switched the gas lever to off and let it cut off by running out of gas. But that was much to smart a decision for me, I have to do things the hardway.
I won't try and go into detail of the "cutoff" method I used, its just too stupid to admit.
But the bike did end up laying on top of me and still running. No damage except for just a few scrapes on the engine guard (they did their job). I managed to right the bike while holding the clutch and brake real firm, and then it just cut off. Lost quiet a bit of fluid.
Anyways, the dealer from Ellaville is driving the 48 miles tonight to my home to try and fix the bike, or trailer it back to his shop. Hopefully he can fix it. He thinks it is just a defective switch, which happened on another bike he sold. Whew!
I really like the new Classic look. The tank is not what I thought it would be, I am disappointed somewhat. There should have been some green painted on the sides of the tank, not all chrome. But I am too upset to complain, I'll just take it like is and deal with it later. I might end up painting it all Florida orange, who knows.
I think the pictures really don't do the new look justice. In person the chrome fender and green rear fender does not really present a problem to me (for right now). When one's available, I am sure I will want to change out the green rear fender to chrome.
Or, I might end up painting the chrome front fender green. @$@@%^^##$#^.
