Guys, I just got an email from Ana Read, Larry's daughter. After his crash they found kidney problems. I don't know if it was crash related. He died Nov 14.
     Rest in peace, Larry.

Shocked and saddened to here of his passing. Larry's commentary from A-Z and his endless enthusiasm in his daily endeavors on his adopted island community that he graciously shared with us will surely be missed.

This is simply devastating news. I really enjoyed Larry's posts from his South Pacific outpost.  He seemed to be the sort of guy who followed his path whereever it took him and did what he wanted to do.  That's the essence of freedom, which is the thing we're all looking for.   I will really miss his interesting point of view and his oberservations about life on the island.  I had been worried about him for the last couple of weeks. It was not like Larry to go for so long without offering a quip or two about this or that.

This place will be a lot blander without his presence.

So long buddy, it's been fun.

I am always struck by how one forms a connection on the www with total strangers never seen. And maybe never coresponds directly but reads anothers' posting or adds some personal comment. It is a pretty fine thing in that regard.I am sorry we have lost one of our own,he will be remembered by us,though. My condolences to the family.

What a shock.  It was always obvious from his contributions here, that Larry was indeed a gentleman amongst gentlemen.  Very sad news indeed, the world needs more people like Larry.
My heart goes out to the Read family and thank God he got to live his island dream.

Oh, this is sad. I've been away from the forum for awhile and now I find we've lost a fine friend and collaborator on things Enfield and life in general.

I'm rather at a loss .... He had such a nice perspective on life.

At least he had some time with his wife in the last few months, there's that blessing.

He and his family will be in my prayers.

I just found this on the forum; I have been away for quite a while.

LJ was someone I felt very close to on this forum, and it was deeply distressing to just discover this.

I am sure he is missed by all of you just as much, as well.

Take care, all.
