Hardtail, homely, mismatched (as some of my bikes have been) , questionable quality of construction, and let us not forget--British.  Shall I go on?

The original question being, of course, "Why" is this seller asking $2500 for this "masterpiece"?

Think you hit the nail on the head.  Realized it's to pafugly to be kept, and doesn't want to put it down himself.

Wow!

That said, the hard-tail frame, wheels and motor are good and could be the basis of a pretty little British bobber.

It does look sharp.  Triumph built some of the best looking, best handling bikes ever (as long as you forsake originality and replace those horrendous Lucas electrics and learn to deal with that ridiculous Whitworth bolt sizing).  I always loved the tank emblems on my Triumphs.

But somehow and in some way, you must respect those originalists that prefer to maintain that Whitworth, positive-ground, black is hot, red is ground absurdity (of course, the new John Bloor Triumphs have much more intelligent engineers that utilize "traditional" metric bolt sizing and electrics).  God bless 'em!  Could be a new Triumph in my future!

I didn't mind the WW sizing, but the Lucas Prince of Darkness electrics ticked me off.  Positive ground?  Went against any normal wiring anywhere.  But I enjoyed my 750 Bonnie.  Will.

Pretty??

Elegant, finely featured - particularly compared to some of those 700 pound factory custom lead sleds that people buy these days.

There is a reason they are called "Hogs".
