I've been eyeballing that high compression piston.  is there anything else I should do with the engine, or does the stock head and valves accept that piston??  I know thqt in a lot of cases like this, one cannot just slap parts on and go without tweaking a few other things.

I'm pretty sure that the high comp piston is plug and play, but it is always a good idea to check to see if the valves clear the piston crown when going up in compression. For even more comp use the thin head gasket.......Dew.

Right on, thanx.  I was also thinking about laping the mating surfaces on the head and jug and doing away with a head gasket.................but thats taking it too far I think.   :D

You will probably want to use a head gasket. You don't want the compression so high that you can't run pump gas. I've got 10.5:1 pistons in both an old ironhead sporty and a 1978 SR500 single Yamaha. Both are pretty noisy without octane booster, even with high test gas.....Dew.
