I tried to get a quote from Progressive, who told me that it was a kit bike, hence a high premium and poor coverage. I called the distributor who in turn helped sort it out with progressive. The monthly premium did not change but the coverage increased dramatically. However, esurance gave me a much better quote.

I have to get full coverage as my bike was purchased with a credit union loan, and I pay about $75/month for full coverage. 

I don't know about your case, but Geico, Progressive, Esurance, and State Farm all knew exactly what my bike was, and even had the Military model separate in the computer.  Which was nice, because for Geico and State Farm the insurance was lowered for the crash bars (Geico also lowered mine because I installed an alarm, and keep it in a garage). 

Basic coverage for me would be about $27 a month, which I may switch to when I pay the bike off.

If these rates seem high, remember that I'm a 21 year old male who hasn't completed college, and you can understand why mine's expensive.

  Guess being near old fart age heps me out..I pay around $165/yr for my '07 Military.  Which Progressive found immediately when I put insurance on it.  But I'm 49 and have had bikes forever and two decades.  And have multi-vehicle discount. (5 insured with same company).

  Farmers Insurance group has decent rates if you check them out.  But then again you have to compare apples to apples, and see if the coverage is as good.  Haven't tried E-surance so can't comment on them. 

  Remeber it's all relative, age, driving record, lien that all affects the price you pay.  Will.

I have Progressive liability only 3rd bike discount 77.00 a year. His office is situated at a Harley dealership though he had to make a five minute call to verify my RE.It may benefit to purchase insurance at a motorcycle dealership.

A lot of insurance companies also use your address and credit score to determine costs.

Have your Progressive  insurance agent enter the entire VIN number into his system. by hand. This is some kind of quirk with some Progressive quotes

They did that, but the premium did not change. The coverages improved slightly. Roughly 700.00 for average coverage.

Esurance, on the other hand , for 300.00 gave maximum coverage.

Personally I have not had to file a claim in the last 8 years. I have auto insurance through Amica, rated highest by JD Power and associates. Geico also has good reviews for claims made.

I ended up going with Geico- did the whole process online and it ended up being very cheap.
Progressive had no problem insuring my 1966 Triumph TR6 though- it was a whopping $77 for the whole year.

Make sure you get a quote from Geico Motorcycle. if you call the automotive for a MC quote, it is somehow higher.

  $700 a year?  Wow I think anyone could beat that rate.  Try Dairyland/Farmers.  Will.

All the states have different rates of ripoff, In Ohio, my rate was 117/year with Progressive, until last year, they jacked it up to 167. I transferred to Geico for 99/yr, and hope they don't have an increase.
