What was the issue with the recall?

I must retreat to my place of Zen and meditate on this.

When the manufacturer tested them independently he found that they did not pass the puncture test. It has taken well over a year for the guy to deal with the govt agencies. Most of them he caught before the container even got here.

I bought a new HCI retro helmet and its pretty good, however it is a lot bigger than my old one I found.  I can see why the old style was not DOT approved but it looks a lot better on my big head since its smaller, now I have the traditional mushroom look going on.  The new helmet is warmer and has ear and neck flaps and is a bit less noisy.

I am keeping the old one for hot summer days though, I know vanity over safety.......

For my oval head, the HCI fits much better, and is also much quieter than the Davida.  With a little cosmetic modification, it looks just as good, too.

There seems to be some pricing variation depending on where you look in this site, though;  The link syas they're $40 but inside it says they're $90.  What's up there?

I bought a leather jacket from them 6 yrs ago, and they were great. Price was right, jacket held up well, and it was quickly delivered.

Br. Ernie, do they suck doorknobs as a rule or just as a habit?  :D

Ernie, I like what you've done to the helmet. What kind of paint did you use? Does it stick well enough?

Red pin stripe tape and clear coat.  It just needed to have the matt finish evened out to get a shiny look.  Some electrical tape around the edge.  Easy-peasy and Bob's your uncle.

When I got that helmet, the rear snap for the goggle stap stay would not un-snap.  I called customer service and they told me to be more firm.  I was and the whole assembly came right out of the helmet!  Another call;  "I'm sorry, but we can't offer refunds or exchanges on USED helmets"   Uh-huh.  I haven't worn it on the bike yet, and I was following YOUR directions.  'I'm sorry, but you abused the helmet and that voids any warranty."

I'm still steamed.  I had to put a small bolt through the back of the helmet because I DO use that little strap.
Bernie, you lucked out.
Bernie is lucky in so many things.

Gosh Uncle,
You break the damn helmet and want a new one.
You break the aluminum tank baffle and expect them to fix it.
Next you'll break your real tail light switch and blame someone. ;D ;D ;D

How the heck did you know about that tail light?

Anyway, I've been all over this thing.  I'm going in deep when the light is better tomorrow.

Did I tell you about that light?  Are you taking advantage of my dementia?  You'll get old someday- you just wait.  Ya know- you're either part of the solution, or part of the problem.
