Just went to the Indian RE website and was happy to see that RE has launched two versions of Classic RE in India. Classic 500 and Classic 350.  They are priced at about US $2500 and $2000 respectively.

Classic 500 is the same as C5 here in USA - except that the pdf file in the press release (kit) section page 2 has picture of C5 with a kick start.  It is also mentioned in the text as kick and electric start.  Here is the link to that -

Classic 350 is 350 cc version - it is essentially Thunderbird Twinspark in the shape of Classic because it has carburator and twin spark plugs. It is also dual start - kick and electric.  Here is link to that -

Since some of the posts in the Forum had expressed great desire to have kick start in their C5 in US,  any one wishing to travel to Chennai and bring one here before Xmas ?

My friend Mr. Singh has opened a very interesting can of worms. While we knew the C-5 was going to be introduced in India we did not know it would have a kick-start. I will have to check it our more carefully to see if they are using the same C-5 engine half and side cover that comes to us. If so, it might be the beginnings of a conversion kit.
Best Regards,

Or maybe just an option from the factory?

The kickstarter is keeping with the Retro part of the Neo/Retro styling.

I certainly hope so.  They should have had the kicker on the C5 from the get-go IMO.

I'd be interested in that, don't know if I'd use it but it would be nice to have.

I think it's sort of ironic.

Supposedly the market demands electric start, and so they make it electric start only, and then the market demands a kicker. :D

These fellows over at RE are apparently listening, and trying to accommodate the desires.
The people want alot of the "authentic" feel of a vintage experience with their bikes.
And that includes having a kicker.
I can't blame them for wanting a kicker on it. I would want one on mine.
I'm glad to see it happening.

This market is not exactly the same as the YamaHonKawaZuki market. This is a niche market which wants vintage accoutrements, and the C5 exudes vintage appeal except it didn't have a kicker. I think this was destined to happen.

The boys are making the bike that I pined away for ..... the 350cc Twin-Spark in the C5 chassis! THAT would be a BRILLIANT little bike in my opinion. Style, class and eight million miles to the gallon ..... and I can repair one! Gotta love that ....
Spare the pig iron - spoil the part!

you are right Bob, that 350 would be a great bike to have. I'd put my wife on one real quick!

I'd put ME on one ..... being the quintessential cheap bastage, it'd warm my heart to get a hundred miles to the gallon AND be riding a full sized motorcycle ....  ;D

I just took a look at the 350. It has a 19" front tire. IMHO  a way better look than the the 18" on the 500.

Loks like the same forks on both ?  Maybe a rim  swap to give the C5 the look of the old bullet ?

I'd like a 19 on the front of my C5 too!
